I went to New Orleans last weekend to see Taylor Hicks at the House of Blues.
Bugs insisted we walk down Bourbon Street afterwards. I now fully understand why God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

I saw enough in 3 hours to write a book.

The concert started it. Taylor was very average. Didn't engage the crowd at all. Acted goofy. Standing room only, and Bugs stands 5' none. I put her on the stairs, and tried to stand on the floor beside her. Turns out that this was a great place for all the drunks to congregate and dance. One girl in particular wanted to dance, and felt she had to kick occasionally. She found out that we were from the same State, so she immediately became my best friend. Since her husband was too drunk to stand up, she thought that I would make an ideal dance partner. The fact that

    1. I can't dance.
    2. Bugs was glaring.
    3. Her husband was glaring.
    4. I wasn't even slightly drunk.

    Didn't seem to bother her.

The we progress to Bourbon St, where the first thig I encounter is a guy laying face down on the sidewalk with a pool of blood under his face. People stepped over him and didn't even look down. I went over and rolled him on his side so he could breath. Out cold, nose pouring blood. Looked like he simply passed out drunk and fell on his face. Not a soul even offered to call 911. Cops came, and ORDERED me to "get back" like I was the one beating him. For a split second I thought they were going to cuff me.

Bugs gets a four foot long plastic grenade looking thing with some kind of mixture in it. She is staggering within minutes. (Low tolerance I guess. She didn't drink that much.) We walk by an open door, and there is a woman butt naked shaking her money maker at the crowd. Bugs is transfixed. I suggested that she get lessons. She got pissed, and tried to stomp off, except she was staggering and I had to hold her up while she stomped.

At least 5 people walked up to me and said "I know where you got those shoes." Another 5 threw up on the sidewalk. I heard the word "motherfucker" used in ever form of it's possible nomenclature. We went in a place that had a mechanical bull, and watched people puke, and then watched other people get on the bull and get thrown into the puke.

I paid $30.00 for an slimy looking person that didn't speak English to burn rubber in my brand new car.

The smell of sewage and filth is still in my nose.

We drove back through the infamous ninth ward that was devastated by Katrina. I was sitting by the leveee, and a boat passed by above. My car was about even with the keel. It's no wonder the place flooded. The whole area is about 20 feet lower than the level of the water. It was obviously a complete armpit before Katrina. I think the storm was a natural way of simply flushing the toliet. (I am not referring to the people, but to the shacks.) I took a great picture of two FEMA trailers in the back yard of two dumps. Both had Direct TV dishes, and brand new Escalades in the yard. No kidding. I'll post soon.

Also went through Waveland, MS. If i was from Misissippi, I would want the Federal Government to answer some questions about why they made such a big deal out of New orleans. Waveland got creamed, and is still creamed.

Bugs is at the beach tonight. I'm home alone. I'll probably eat another buttoncap with crabmeat and go to bed.

I bet the only reason you weren't tasered is because you've got that bald, law enforcement official look about you.

I am with you and the 'cleansing' part. The planet has a pretty good idea where it is F'd up at, and takes care of it from time to time. How much of the natural wetland did they 'fill in' to build up new orleans? If you look at a topographical map, the whole area looks like a sink hole. They should have busted the levee down, after clearing all the crap, and move the whole place back to higher ground. I like the escalade Fema trailer deal, that is funny, you should send that in to dateline. Of course it would never get to the news. They only show the person that squandered the money in a casino boat, and has nothing to show for it.

If you go by a Lowes, look at a flyer they have with there 'katrina' homes plans in it. I wonder what they are making per?

sorry your new orleans weekend wasn't that great. but, i have to ask what were you expecting?

re:waveland - that's my sister's home town. they're doing so much better now. when we went down the tuesday after the storm - i don't know, i can't find the words. the people were like zombies, traumatized and in complete shock. the people in MS are pretty tough though. we had van loads of medical supplies, food, clean clothes, pillows, dog food, first aid, cold drinks - you name it. and we went slab to slab. the majority of the people said to go on down to the end of the road because those people had more children or an elderly family and to offer the supplies to them first. the majority of the people in MS didn't want any help from the government - they started cleaning things up themselves. it's funny how the responsible ones, the ones who take care of their own issues don't make the news. it's the beggars and the lazies looking for handouts who everyone sees.

Good point. The Mississippi people just got to work. There are places in New Orleans that haven't even been cleaned up.

More likely it's because I said "yes sir" and did exactly what he said the first time. It's amazing how rarely people get tazered when they just do what they are told.

My favorite tazer video - I watch it all the time - the next words after "not gonna do it" are "AAAAARRRRRGGHHHHH!!!!!!".

    So funny.

68-Year-Old Woman Says Officer Shocked Her Twice In Chest

    Aspen Police Taser Homeless Woman

An Aspen police officer reportedly used a Taser on a 63-year-old homeless woman and may face disciplinary action, the Aspen Daily News reported Tuesday.

Officer Melinda Calvano fired two 50,000-volt bursts into Carol Alexy while trying to arrest the woman for suspected theft last week, the newspaper reported, citing unidentified law enforcement sources.

The facts known so far: Officer Calvano thought Ms. Alexy had stolen a garment from a thrift shop and ordered her to drop it and put her arms up. Ms. Alexy collapsed. Calvano told her to get up, and when she didn’t, she tasered her.[/quote]

So what is your point here? That out of the millions of arrests made each year a few are made by complete idiots? The problem with the use of stun devises is that occaionally they fall into the hands of complete morons. The thing you might want to consider is this - if the moron cop did not have the stun gun, his other choice might have been a handgun.

In the video I posted the officer used a stun gun to subdue an obviously drunk and unstable driver. If he had not have had the stun gun, his only option would have been to either shoot him, or allow him to drive away. He triedphysical restraint. Do you really expect a cop to get his ass beat every night just keep from zapping some drunk redneck?

As far as the six year old - have you ever seen a child attempt suicide? I have. More than once. It is amazing how quick a 90 lb kids bleeds out when they severe a vein. So maybe the cops should have offered him a cookie? How do you know that they didn't?

Sometimes you are brilliant Nursey. Not on this one though. Tasers are they best things to come to law enforcement ever. They save lives - period. Campaign all you want to stop the use of them by idiots, but don't blame the taser.

I understand the dangers of using the taser, I also realize in some situations it is a good thing. In the right hands it is an effective tool for subduing an unruly criminal, and is less likely to kill the assailant than 'bean bags' and real bullets.

One problem is that the officers in these situations are not using the device in the manner in which it was intended. Plus they need to realize that the taser isnt a quick fix to end a situation they arent happy with. The old lady looking for her friend/family member in the nursing home, I'd be upset too if they wouldnt tell me where a member of my family was. The homeless lady lying on the ground, no reason to taser. 12 year old girl running into traffic, that's kinda iffy. If she was drunk, and delusional, yea, I could see where zapping her is a good thing. To subdue her.

From the cops point of view. He tackles the girl and cuffs her. They get to the station, so he can call her parents, they show up, and all of a sudden she was 'violated'. "He tackled me and groped me while I was on the ground".

Tasers suck. If you ever have the opportunity to try one out, without breaking the law, I would suggest you pass.

I do believe that all police officers, well I speak for the ones here, are hit with the taser before they are issued one. Just like the O2 spray. That really curtails officers abusing it, when they know how much it hurts.

It here or I dunno where I saw it but it was a video of a woman getting tased by the police. She deserved it because she was being totally uncooperative. I'd tase people right and left. :)
