Sorry to change the subject, but I am shitting my self. It is going to cost us for the first year 2.5g a month for a morgage as we have not got our PR yet , fucks sake who can afford that!! In australia everybody ( or everybody that we know) is living on a revolving line of credit, is not what we are used to. But we need our own place as we have been here for 2 years and our housing allowance will stop as soon as we apply for residency, we are here on a 3 year business visa so will have to apply soon. Hate chucking money away on rent, which we havent had to do with the housing allowance but nor have we saved anything. I would hate to be forced to go home, not that Scotland is a bad place, but would hate to be forced back against our will. Oh help m' boab!

 

(adds "affordable housing" to the long list of reasons that I am glad to live in the USA. )

everybody will tell you that Oz is cheap, but it is so expensive to live here. What gets me is that the government funded schools here get less than the private schools and the private schools although they ae not as expensive as in the uk still make a killing, they penalise parents who do not have the time to 'muck in and help out' $250 a pop, though the parents pay through the nose for books that could very easily be handed down through the schools, they enforce the most ridiculous school uniform regulations, costing parents a small fortune, every excursion or incursion is payed for on top of fees and they still get more than the government subsidised schools. Plus they are going to kill my family of starvation, bastards!!

Still dont wanna go home though!!
