Try to understand this. What you are doing is picking and choosing points of what was known or discussed in intelligence briefings to make a conclusive point.

It does not matter that the prediction would be chaos then so be it. Basically we were attacked and had two choices

    1. Grin, bear it, and rebuild and hope it does not happen again.

    2. Go after the perpetrators.

As most people can see the only real option is 2.

You can do analysis of if then scenarios till the cows come home and get nowhere sooner or later you have to make a move. It is not like a game of chess that lets you sit there for an hour strategizing and your opponent can do nothing till you make your move.

Anyone with common sense can see that if we only went to Afghanistan and not Iraq. Then all the foreign fighters in Iraq now would be flooding into Afghanistan. Also we can be sure that Saddam would be using the opportunity to smuggle supplies and weapons as well as troops (uninformed) to support the effort. We would be in worse shape than we are now.

We took the right strategic choice I think. The Left wing and media undermining has done a great deal of harm building up world wide resentment. Remember Iran before Armajedian? Trust me there is a great deal of behind the scenes diplomacy going on for the very reasons both I and Phat mentioned which is the threat of Democracy against the system they have going over there. Not to mention The Soviets, China, North Korea, and French backstabbing. You can follow the money trail to see why.

You only have to look at cause and effect and motive to see what is going on here.

So, what you're saying is that it doesn't matter if what the Iraqis have to deal with now is worse than their circumstances before the invasion because it was in retalliation for September the 11th (even though they had nothing to do with it), yet Phatboy believes the U.S. is liberating them 'whether they like it or not', and it's just a pity that the resulting mess is a toxic, bloodsoaked hellhole. But they're still happier!? Hmm.

From page one, are some happy for the chance to blow each other up?

    Yes

Is it the responsibility of America to make them behave responsibly?

    No

    So the point is moot.
