When Milosovic did the same thing as Saddam all we heard was 'why arent the Americans stopping this', so I guess we got preemptive with Saddam.

Nursey, when was the last time you were there? Just a year would be cool. I'm just trying to remember a time when there was a heavy growth in the population since 1979. To show what a great place it was annd since people were flocking to Iraq.

Saying it was better before seems to speak for only one portion of Iraqs people, I bet the Kurds would say it is better now. And I would bet that when we do leave it will be better than it was before/during Saddam.

Bravo Phat you seem to have soundly put these two in their place. Fact is it's quite a strange double standard the way the Terrorists are allowed to bomb women and children. As a matter of fact encouraged to do so.

I cannot fathom why someone would take up that sort of logic. You have more patience than me putting up with their simple minded stubbornness.

If you truly believe you can win a battle on the Internet, you have already lost.

Haw haw. Very good. But as much as i appreciate your creativity brightening up such a serious subject, it doesn't do anything for your arguement. If anything, it does the opposite. But i did see that the 'Urban Legends' site says it's a hoax, but they're hardly a reputable, academic source. So though it adds weight to that theory, i'm still not convinced. Here is a better shot. And here is a close up of that shot as well as a close up of your version:

If the 'FUCK IRAQ' picture is photoshopped, then they did a far more professional job than you.

Not for a long, long time, Phat. I wasn't making that comment from first hand experience (as if that's what's necessary to realise such an obvious fact). You're 'trying to remember (did you live there yourself?) a time when there was a heavy growth in the population since 1979'? How about just not a mass exodus of millions of people (mainly the educated middle classes) flocking to leave their homeland as has happened since the invasion, and only those trickles of power hungry corrupt stooges such as Chalabi and his cronies flocking back?

I speak for Iraq. The Iraq which includes Shi'ia and Sunni muslims, Kurdish Iraqis, Christians and Jews. The ones who consider themselves Iraqi, first and foremost, and as a result drew the benefits Iraq provided to those who lived by Iraqi rules, and not those who sought to collaborate with outside elements to upset the status quo for their own seperate agendas.
As far as the 'Kurds being better off', well that depends on whether you believe Western propaganda or not. I tend to believe the Stephen Pelletiere, the Pentagon's own expert (who, as a respectable professional in the field, spoke out about his concern of an 'anti-Iraqi agenda') on the matter. Also, see my new post in this thread.

Iraqi women are far worse off now that the country is defined by religion instead of nationality, many being forced to wear veils by the more extreme Muslim factions.

And it's looking more and more likely that as a result of the U.S. invasion and destabilision, the birthplace of Christianity will soon be extinct of its' Christian population (who still hold their sermons in Aramaic - the language of Jesus) who have existed there for thousands of years - since pre-Islamic and pre-Babylonian times. Things weren't perfect for Christians under Saddam, but they weren't anywhere near as bad as they are now.

Tariq Azziz, one of the leading Ba'ath party figures was an Iraqi Christian.

One of the worst things that could happen to Iraq is that one day it be ruled by the Shi'ia (the fundamentalist Muslims) majority. Now, thanks to Western meddling, that awful scenario has come true. On the whole, they do not epitomise the moderate Iraqi character, which is Iraqi before anything else (many of the Shi'ias align themselves with Iran) . Iraq is comprised of many religions and ethnicities, and unlike the Iranians as well as many of the West's Arab allies in the Middle East such as the U.A.E and Saudi Arabia, Iraq has never been an extremist country.

Just before the invasion, i used to argue that removing Saddam Hussein would be like prising the tin lid off an explosive powder keg. Perhaps people can now see what i was talking about.

P.S. The more i've examined it, including after messing around with the textures in photoshop, i think the aircraft carrier picture probably is a fake as the shadow doesn't seem quite consistant.

My photoshop skills are not good, that I will admit, but it only took me about 10 minutes to do that. As bad as it was....

I dont doubt that in some aspects it is worse now than it was, but saying it was 'good' would probably be a stretch. I dont have time to read your whole post, but I will when I get a chance.

Then stop fighting the propaganda war against democracy there.

You know in the beginning when so many people were looking for every anti-American angle in the Iraq situation I felt compelled to tell them that they are hurting the Iraqi people for the sake of spite against America they should look strongly at the result of their actions.
