You exercised a bit of tact and restraint that I could only find out I had if I were in a similar situation (concerning the thieving bitch that stole your dog.) I have never sat comfortably with personal theft. That's just one of my 'tics' - it's a very touchy subject with me. To date, there are three people that have stolen from me in the past. They were very fortunate, as it happened years ago (read: I got my shit back, and they lived...) God help the sorry prick that decides to steal from me now. Getting back to the Owl, however, I've often been concerned when I hear an owl perched on a neighbor's roof (as my Terrier is in the neighborhood of ~12lbs)... I've heard stories about owls taking out small pets, and always been worried... It seems so tempting to shoot it, but one, it hasn't made any 'swoops' towards my dog, and two, I'm fairly certain it's on an endangered list somewhere, (and shall remain, until it snipes my dog.)
I'm not a fan of small dogs, I like meaty dogs that you can really fuck with and they don't give a flying shit about it. Case in point: Golden Retrievers.
