In that case, I won't waste my time reading your posts anymore. Don't ask questions like that if you won't like the response.

Australia, it just would not have crossed my mind if I were to guess.

I was thinking Western Europe. I probably would have guessed French; the name gave me that impression.

Actually, Reizvolles is German, not French. It means "sexy" (I know that's narcissistic). I am actually of Russian decent.

    No shit! Me too!

Russian, I mean. It's for others to decide if I'm narcissistic.

Well there is an interesting perspective. Question for both Chester and Reiz. What was up with the riots over there? I understand there giving a free pass to the people who participated in it?

Maybe this question deserves its own thread.

Nah. The "riots" were in Cronulla, Sydney, about 20 minutes from my place.

Basically, a bunch of locals got the shits with a bunch of blow-ins, and then tiny redneck political groups got together with talkback radio to turn it all into a race thing.

Given the general anti-Arab sentiment throughout the Western world at the moment, it didn't take much to fan the flames of ignorance.

But once everyone realised that tension meant we couldn't duck off to the beach for a quick swim at the end of the day without worrying about getting a brick in the back of our head, it all fizzled out to nothing.

(Australia's a kind of cool country like that. Apparently we even had an Islamic terrorist cell planted here a while back, but once the orders came to do the deed they all decided "fuck it, we like it here too much" and just refused.)

Oh the CRONULLA riots. Like Chester said, just a bunch of morons being morons, which was turned into some fucked up racial bullshit. It was all done by rednecks with mobile (cell) phones: they would SMS (txt) all their mates to come and do it.

Wasn't John Laws one of the forerunners for this one, Chester?

So in your opinion the media had the story messed up from actual reality of what happened?

You see I think the biggest tool for peace is not necessarily democracy in and of itself but rather that in combination with an accurately informed people.

You see democracy gives people power over there destiny. But that power is usurped by bad decisions of an uneducated, ignorant, and worse yet misinformed people.

What did I ask? Even in the post before that I didn't ask anything. Sorry for the offense, your majesty.

But for real, I am sorry, I shouldn't have had that tone. All I was saying was that I bet you weren't as hot as ucicare was making you out to be since he seems like some grubby old man anyways, so why bother looking around?

Alan Jones was actually the guy that read out SMS and emails verbatim on his Sydney-wide radio show. Thus making sure that an invitation that may have been limited to around a hundred idiots was instead broadcast to tens of thousands.

    The cock.

They get it right when they report their opinion, as opinion.

Problem is, most report their opinion as fact (e.g. FOX NEWS, tabloid press, talkback radio). Or they report an "objective reality" which is always tainted by opinion (e.g. BBC, broadsheet newspapers, CNN).

Hunter S Thompson and his gonzo cronies were probably the most honest and trustworthy journalists around.

Yeah, that's probably true. News is always more interesting when reported through mescaline tainted glasses.

Don't think he will. He's just "doing his job" reporting the news.
