I love dogs. Hell I love dogs more then people. I understand them. I can look at them and know what they want or anything. I get them. Always have. I mean I'm 3rd generation dog guy, it's in my blood.

I would rather hang out with my pack of dogs then anyone I know.

But anyway sorry about the dog. But who is the idiot here. The doctor for doing what he did or you allowing him to do what he did knowing the dog was fine.

    I wonder.....

how right you are. the meds are gone and she's better than ever!

in my defense, they told me they thought she had cancer and that these treatments would be the best chance to keep her healthy and happy until the end. so i wanted to do whatever necessary - you being a 'dog guy' surely you understand...

I agree with you up until the point that you say that she is an idiot for allowing them to give her dog meds. The vet made her think that's what any "loving, responsible pet owner" would do. I would say that it would scare me into doing it too. I would do anything for my dogs to make their lives better, so I would have done the same and can understand her frustration.

I understand the feeling you need to extend the dogs life. But one things my Step Grandfather told me and Red is when you try that your not doing it for the dog your doing it for you.

You just enjoy them while you got them and put them in a special place when their gone.

You know actually that’s the same way I feel about it. Enjoy good quality times when you can. And do not prolong destiny. It's the same for people. But there is a whole industry around extending peoples last dying days. That is of course until the money is gone.

Sad. But I also understand wanting to make a dog comfortable there at the end.

I don't know. If only a dog could tell you, "Hey, try that medicine" or "I don't want to take that stuff." More than likely, they would tell you that they didn't want to take the stuff.

He might also ask, "Does my breath smell like ball sack?" (I digress)

It's awful when you know your pet is hurting or frightened and you can't seem to help. I hope things work out.

Yeah having a pet is really more responsibility than many percieve. You are like god over their small world. You can make it heaven or hell for them intentionaly or not.

I have a 3-month old Maltese/urine sprinkler in my house to accompany my 11 year old Maltese. My wife likes to say its my older dog's companion but let's face it: it's a reserve dog for when the elder kicks the bucket. No mas, por favor.
