Thing is I doubt any of the three came stock with a V8 The dodge had the infamous slant 6, The Chevy with a 302 straight 6 (actually a pretty stout motor). and the Ford likewise straight 6 somewhere in the 300 cube range.

There is just something cool about a Van that can embarase the hell out of a stock Mustang, Camaro, or some kid who saw "Fast n Furious" then promptly memorized all the engine identification numbers of various Asian made cars dating back ten years. Bought one and placed a modified coffee can on his tail pipe.

Plus the guy driving it has got some serious gonads to be standing it up like that and racing it at 100 plus on a qtr mile strip. I mean look at where he is sitting.

I am pretty sure the old blue one my friends dad had came with a v-8 if not a 327 it was a 283(wasnt that the small chevy v-8?).

The slant 6 has to be the most dependable, unstoppable motor ever put in a vehicle. I had two, one in a 73 Gold Duster, and one in a 75 Duster.... you cant blow up a 'sleepy six'. I tried. Several times. No oil. Cut off the exhaust, which was cool till one night it backfired and shot flames out the back that looked like an explosion in Die Hard 3

Haha Those light weight Dusters could still smoke the tires with the slant six when you popped the clutch. I knew a guy that had a 69 340 duster it was red and had the black details and black hood. What a sweet ride that was.

there was actually an elier version 260 something but the 283 is what most would call the first Chevy v8. I had one with an insane cam and popup pistons. That motor had a mere 3" stroke and a lot of metel in the cylinder walls. You could wind it forever if you had tight enough valve springs and solid lifters.

Then the 302 had the same stroke but the larger piston. the 327 If I remember correct had a 3 1/4" stroke. The 350 was 3.48" and the 400 had a bigger bore finally and a 3.75" stroke.

The 305 and 307 were exercises in stupidity.

    Yep.

I cant believe the 305 lasted as long as it did. They ran them in Camaros until, what like 93? I think that is when they changed to the pointy one. I had a friend with a 25th anniversary RS that I smoked in a Dodge Ram 4x4 (360 auto, on 35" BFGs) from a dead stop. And had the exhaust, and intake and some kind of power programmer. What a joke.

I never understood it. My grampa had one in a 89 Silverado, for what he used it for it was plenty, but the power of a 4.3 and the mileage of a 350. Seems like a waste of motor.

I think the first 307 I personally saw was in a 67-72 model chevy pickup. Then a friend of mine had one in a Pontiac Ventura, one of the ugliest cars EVAR.....next to the gremlin and pacer of course.

    O RLY?

How many of us have been to a car show and seen the punk in the lowrider with an 'intel inside' logo on the back? Instead of putting an MP3 playing radio in his car he put a mobo and a touchscreen. Seems like a waste, but if you had a mobile broadband card it could be useful....imagine browsing porn while sitting in traffic...... ::)
