While in the Marine Corps I ran probably 24 miles a week at my last unit and rode a mountain bike to work 7 miles each way a few days out of the week also. I was if I may say in fucking awesome shape. After the corps I pretty much got out of physical training except for a little mountain biking now and then. This was fine when I had physical jobs nut so much the jail guard job. But I did Carpet cleaning and Worked as a Diesel Mechanic as well as a park maintenance job for the Corps of Engineers. But as soon as I went to school and got a job in the tech industry I went from a consistent 175 pounds that I had been for the past 10 years to a bloated 215 it just happened before I knew it. One day I was in target and stepped on a scale they had for sale and was like WTF? Now I'm back down to 185 and feeling pretty good. So shit happens.

The food is the issue. And stretches. Drinking can keep you  in shape, but you have to drink just the right way

I find that if you drink enough, anything you had to eat becomes a moot point anyway....

Hey Phatboy, are you two or three hours ahead of California time. I'm thinking you're in the Atlantic time zone, but I could be wrong.

Jogging is a bad boring behavior. Drinking should be done sitting down, and if you drink a bit occationally, without taking advantage of the gifts of poverty in the west, you will keep a certain trim. ( But then again, i refuse cars and that helps a lot ).

Foodstuffs are real simple as well. The basic groups and slow and fats carboes and no fucking dietfad that destroys your basic understanding of it.

I work about 15 miles from my house. I dont have the liberty to refuse cars. Yet. I wouldnt mind riding my bike, however, from mid-may to late september it is usually between 90 and 105 degrees, with 100% humidity. So if I rode to work I would have to take a shower once I got here. Not too mention I would have to find somewhere to haul my lapotop and my change of clothes....

Of course I know that in a few european countries BO is a badge of honor.....

Yeah its not as easy as you would think in the years ago when I rode my bike in I put my BDUs on a backpack complete with a towel and soap for a shower. But I had to make arrangements for the extra time. Don't have as much extra time now it seems .... thanks to Fugly.

Then again. The free market car jobs, make for a lot of that extra travel time, since a greater area of population competes for the same jobs. Took the small local stores out of biz as well.
( REalize i am getting obscure and conservative here ).
