Steak is good, what about the crock hunter. Is he a symbol of national pride or the Australian equivalent of Bush.
He's only famous in Australia for being famous in America. Local TV wouldn't touch him till he made it big in the States. I personally had never heard of him until he "appeared" in a South Park episode.
"pull your finger out" = get on with it "get a dog up ya" = fuck you, asshole "get a mangy dog up ya" = even more so "eat shit and die" = same again
What about Crocodile Dundee, is he legit. I can't really think of any other people who really embrace their Australian heritage in American pop-culture.
"Paul Hogan" I heard he just loafs around until he runs out of money then goes and looks for a movie to make. Not a bad gig if you ask me.
I wouldn't mind having his job, do a Subaru commercial every once in a while and the rest of your time you have to yourself. Sounds like a great life.
Paul Hogan is cactus. At least, his career is. Anyone who doubts this only needs to rent "Strange Bedfellows".
"Blow in" = someone new to town or the area "Mate" = buddy "Bloke" = dude "Pom" = English person, also "pommie" or "pommie bastard" "Whinging pom" = the kind of English person who never shuts up about how things are actually better at "home" (i.e. in England). The Australian response is to say "well why don't you fucking go back there then?"
"Beer o'clock" = end of your work day, a.k.a. "knock-off time" "Smoko" = a tea break, whether or not you actually have a cigarette
