You need to be shot for watching House MD...that has to be the worst accent i have ever heard..it even makes Dick Van Dykes accent in Mary Poppins look good.
Sorry Ferine, with a 129 IQ you are not normal. A 130 IQ is two standard deviations from normal, as is a 70 IQ. Statistically, you are in the top 2-3% of intelligence in the world. You are as statistically odd as the 2-3% of retarded individuals who have IQ's of 70 or less. Genetics play an important role in intelligence. Marry me and we can have lots of brilliant overweight kids. Barry
Since I have never seen you Ferine, no. My weight is impressive, though I do carry it well. Obviously you missed my attempt at self directed humor. A smart girl like you should not be so quick to assume..... Barry
heh what a coincidence barry we were just looking at IQ in psych today..... i'd like to ask everyone that's had their IQ's measured when they did it and who/what conducted the test.... essentially it's supposed to represent potential and varies greatly... for example if you took 3 tests even on the same day chances are you wouldn't get the same number
In my opinion an IQ test is very biased toward white western males. They measure a persons ability in cognitive/rational areas, but ignores deductive reasoning and emotional stability. I can hit a home run on most IQ tests, but I have lots of problems with everyday simple things. I miss details often, especially if they are boring. So does that mean I am brilliant? Well, in some areas, yes. In other areas, no. For example - I suck at math, and excel in reading comprehension. I am horrible with musical concepts, yet great with language arts. My handwriting is illegible no matter how hard I try, but I usually spell things right. I think that most of the people in the world have certain areas that are "gifted". IQ tests aren't designed to measure all areas of intellience, so many really gifted people are not noted for their ability. On the other hand, those who can test well are labeled "brilliant" when in fact they may no be able to tie their own shoes. Go figure. Barry
it's interesting because IQ is basically just a theory.... it was devised by two french guys to test kids that weren't doing well in school... the questions they devised were based on their perspective of what intelligence is..... not too long ago IQ tests would measure things like reflex...... what you're referring to barry is the multiple intelligence theory... don’t feel like looking through my notes to fill in the details but it basically states that things like social smarts, musical ability and others that aren’t measured by standard IQ tests are just as important but for one reason or another aren't appreciated by western society as far as the western males thing goes they’ve actually modified the questions for other cultures…. The most interesting thing of all is that apparently what it takes to get 100 now is what it took to get a 120 a hundred years ago.. there are many speculations as to why because evolutions simply doesn’t work that fast…….. some say it’s nutrition, others have said that it’s actually video games because they expose children to problem solving very early in life I’m still curious as to where everyone has taken IQ tests and at what age
Dipshit ..........and I didn't have to read but the first one and half paragraphs see that even if I hadn't known beforehand . Guess that meand I must be a freaking genius.
I have taken the things in one form or another since I was 7. They never told me what I made as a kid. The only one that I have a record of is really not an IQ test, it is a graduate entrance test. (MillerS Analogies Test - raw score 74.) Otherwise, I am just a run of the mill redneck. See here for comparitive scores. I would bet that many here have taken the ACT, SAT, or GRE. Those tests have a correlation to IQ scores. You are probably smarter than you think. (Except for Dan, who is very average and in complete denial.) http://www.polymath-systems.com/intel/hiqsocs/hiqsocs2.html Barry
Based on the *incomprehensible *verbiage used above, I would say NOT. *Big word for Dan *in·com·pre·hen·si·ble ( P ) Pronunciation Key (nkm-pr-hns-bl, n-km-) adj. Difficult or impossible to understand or comprehend; unintelligible: incomprehensible jargon. Impossible to know or fathom: incomprehensible mysteries. *ver·bi·age ( P ) Pronunciation Key (vûrb-j, -bj) n. An excess of words for the purpose; wordiness. The manner in which something is expressed in words: software verbiage. Barry
the reason why i ask is because if you take it as a child several times likely your results will vary greatly.... like i said IQ is a potential, sort of like the ceiling potential.... but if you don’t exercise your mind at an early age it will fall ..... if you lock a child with an iq of 200 up for the first 10 years of its life it's going to come out retarded.... what makes it sad is that regardless of how much you cultivate a child with an IQ of 70 it might function in a more "normal" manner but will certainly never reach anything above average
True enough. I thought that I was retarded when I was young. They kept testing me, and never telling me anything. I was having a lot of problems with school, so I just thought that I was stupid. I had no clue that I was bright. I was diagnosed with AD/HD at age 33. In the 1960's when I was in grade school, they had no idea what that was. I was called "lazy" by more than one teacher because I was bored with the crap they were teaching. My grade school years were difficult to say the least. Barry
I was first tested at the age of 8...because I was "quiet"... It was an individual assessment ...and I believe I scored a 119, i'd have to ask my mother to be sure. Then again at age 11 at school with a roomful of other students at Camp LeJeune, NC when we were stationed there.. I scored 129 then. Suprisingly enough when I was tested my junior year in high school, another individual assessment, I scored the same, 129. I'd be curious to be tested again as an adult, i'm pretty sure it's quite lower actually. I think i've lost both focus and drive as i've aged...
