    I just got this email:

Has your site been hijacked or something? Every so often when I go to fugly via google page rss feed, it will try to redirect to the IP address:
    85.255.115.218
I've searched for this IP address, and everyone has gotten different names from a domain dossier, so its probably some type of identity fraud.
When it redirects, it then goes to some fake virus scan thing, here's what I got on the Ip if this is any help:

Will you all please see if you can duplicate this and gather as much info on it as you can, if you can. If you use Firefox, the 'Tamper Data' plugin will reveal a lot. I have not yet been able to duplicate it.

I have no problem with any part of the site. What they probably have is a browser hijacker that will take them to whatever site when they go to certain links it's attached to in their cookies.

Go to Google and search for "fugly". Click on any of the links that should take you to a page on Fugly.com. If you get Fugly.com, go back and try again a few times. I just got it from a different IP.

I'm going through level3.net to get to you ..... You are around DC then arn't you? It is slowing down there though. If I ping various ips in that section of the trace route I get like 75% packet loss. I think it is just network issues.

googled Fugly.com its all good for me

Now I'm wondering who was first fugly.com or Fugly.net or Fugly.com/au (I think Chester has setup his own fugly.com)

And who scavenges more hits off of who.

Well that assumes they all have the same keywords, h tag and general site optimization set up. Domain name alone doesn't pull site relevancy--especially with Google's mysterious and ever changing algorithm.

I tried 10 times and had no issues getting to fugly from google. I also searched from Yahoo, and MSN with no issues opening the site. Im thinking more along the lines of someones browser might be hijacked. Im using IE7 and I havent had any issues. Didnt try from Mozilla, which is what I usually use if IE blows up on me.

Ive seen a nice 'myspace' virus on my wifes laptop, it redireced IE to virusbursters.com with a pop-up saying that she had a virus/adware which of course was the virus bursters bullshit itself. Apparently she picked it up on myspace when a pop up said she needes some software to view a profile.

Can you run throught the code on the site, or even run a packet sniffer, I would think Dwaine would know a lot more about hacking a box than the rest of us. Im old school. Setting up Routers and VLANs is my pastime. Most my web stuff is just modifying pages in a sql table that held all the page information.

So Dwaine, what does jefe need to run to find the A-hole and should we send a packet storm to crap out any IPs associated with the fuckers that may, or may not have jacked the site.......

We caught the problem last night at about 7:00pm East coast time. Did anybody get a strange page when trying to come to fugly.com from Googlebefore then? It wasn't to Fuglyforums.com because these are on a separate server at a different company.

I think we put a stop to it for now. The problem was on the server itself, and not a scraper bot or anything like that.

If you think of it, once in a while go to google and google Fugly and try to go to the site from there. If you ever click on a link that should go to the site, and you end up at some porn page or other advertiser page, then we'll know I didn't fix it.

And thank you all for your help. I am really surprised at the response. Could it be that all these baby blue pastels are giving you all a better attitude? :)

"you're" is a contraction for "you are"
    "your" is possessive

I am an asshole and I approve this message ;D
