after a few weeks of complete chaos and stress and insanity, i'm headed out.. by myself.. on business/pleasure for a week! ;D here's one thing i'll be doing while i'm gone: www.oasisrelaxation.com
Trust me, I know. I used to live in Warwick. Try to find the "Breaker's Mansion" if you can - it was a major trading post for slaves in that area after said activity was made illegal in the north. There are tunnels that lead from that mansion to the ocean, probably still there - it's worth asking about as long as you're there. Hell, nothing much else to do in "The biggest little state in the union"...
...and if you get really bored, check out "drum rock" - a boulder set atop another boulder, at the apartments located on 3595 Post Rd. (Warwick), a historical meeting place where the native americans would gather, summoning their kin by standing atop the boulders and shifting their weight in a manner that would rock the top boulder, making a loud 'drumming' sound. Like I said, wait until you're bored.
I don't know what this says about me, but both of those sound kind of interesting. Especially the drum rock. Do they let you climb on it and try to rock it?
Yeah, it was just off the road in a small clearing, there's really nobody watching it, so you can do whatever the fuck you want on it. I wiki'd The Breakers - nice history, but no mention of the tunnels...
there's really nobody watching it, so you can do whatever the fuck you want on it. [/quote] I'm guessing about 100 people have said something similar right before they slap the cuffs on...
I've been to the 'breaks national park' on the Virginia/Kentucky border. That was great. It's like going to 'grandfather rock' or 'blowing rock' in North Carolina. Not a whole lot going on in the mountains, except for the snake farm that was on the old highway on the NC TN border.....
I went to this place called Sliding Rock In NC when I was about 11 yrs old with a natural 60 foot water slide into some cool moutain water at least I think it's mountain water. I was just 11. It was pretty fun I still remember it. http://www.alleneasler.com/slidingrock.html
I think I'm actually in Warwick. I'm staying at a hotel near the airport off Post Road. I'm working out of some big-ass armory that looks like a castle. You know where that is?
Honestly, I was really young when I lived there - don't think I remember it, but might recognize it if I saw it. If you're on Post Rd, you're probably pretty close to where I lived - the apartments at 3595, the same place the rock is at. I do remember the giant wasp you can see on the Interstate. It's funny, they even have it in the first "Dumb and Dumber" movie.
Nice... I don't remember the place, but I can't help but admire the lone window unit sticking out on that bottom picture. That's kind of like what I want my house to look like. Wouldn't want to deal with cobwebs in a room with 90 ft. ceilings, but if you need binoculars to see them, who cares, right?
