To be quite honest, I really like 'Pixel'... I'll have to discuss it with her and see if she agrees...
So, do you still have that cat or what? I ended up with one myself. My neighbors need some C02 poisoning for the way that they treat their animals. It's been 0-4 degrees at night lately and there wasn't any way I was leaving the kitty out there in that shit. My dogs are learning to deal with him. I call him "Doug" and he's not as cat-like as most cats, so he is pretty cool.
Yeah, I've still got her... Grown quite attached, too - especially since I had to put Winston to sleep three weeks after finding her. It's funny how things turn out, really. I really have come to love this kitten, and besides, try to think of another cat that you can groom with a dustbuster.
Cats can be very aloof and unaffectionate. I found that you have to make them understand that you are powerful, and they are not. Withhold their food for about three days. Show them food, let them smell it and then take it away. Once they get really wild eyed, feed them small bites with a fork. They will then understand that you are the HUMAN, and they are the CAT. It really improves the relationship.
That reminds me of my brother's girlfriends old cats. She fed them until they were to big to lick their assholes so they had to be "wiped off" if I remember right. So she was going to try to get them to lose weight but they would go crazy making all them meooowl all day and night looking for food. I suggested she lock them in the garage with just water for about a couple of months but I think she took them to the humane society to be gassed.
See Post # 17 for pics the day after I brought her home (Jan. 2nd), and here's a few more recent ones... Kitty-gram, anyone? Comfortable in a room that hadn't gotten 'the treatment' when that pic was taken... Just waking up, facial expression funny (but it shows off her eyes the best out of all the pics, I'll have to take a picture of her in the Sun sometime)... Attack the ceiling face! She gets along great with Tobie (these I just took):
