Would it be easier to read and post in these forums if we reversed the thread order so that the last post was displayed first?

new posts would go to the top, not to the bottom like it is set up now. We enabled flood-control because of that asshole who posted the java-bombs.
I'm used to scrolling, it's no bother to me, however I wouldn't mind longer pages, I.E. more than 15 posts per page... If I had to make ONE suggestion, however (for what it's worth) - I've been on UBB's before, where on the topic summary page, in addition to showing what time the last response to the thread was made, the person's screen name was listed, too. For those of us still living in the 20th century with our dialup accounts, it'd really make a difference, not having to load another page if there's nothing new on it...
i think it's fine the way it is.. after all.. you read a page from top to bottom... i do, however, think you should put the number of pages on the main forum page, as well as in the individual forums...
Yes! Please switch it. Maybe I am more used to boards being set up that way, but I find them easier to use for some reason.
I guess I like the new-to-old threading better because when you check the boards it's more convenient to have all the new stuff up front, rather than having to sift through all the other shit first or remember what page you were on. Also, when you make a post it brings you right back to the current page again. God, I've thought about this way too damn much. Er.. do whatever you want.
Old to new is good. Otherwise you're reading the latest 'reply' and going "What the hell is that referring to?". Like reading a book and starting with the last chapter, specially if there has been a lot of posting since your last visit. If you could rig it to start on the most recent page perhaps? Or posts since your last visit, in an ideal world.

My .02: In typical threaded-type discussion forums, I prefer the newer-to-older sort order. This one isn't quite typical, as once any given thread is entered, all replies are viewed therein (vs. only the given post that is clicked on). I find the current sort order annoying only when a given thread sprawls beyond 2 "pages" Given that most threads here rarely stay on-topic for long (hey, not complaining, just observing), by the time one pops a 3rd page or more, chances are slim that the recent posts have anything at all to do with the first one. I voted to change to newer-to-older sort, to avoid the click-thru drudgery of getting to Page 4 or 5 of any thread I'm following. But if the vote doesn't result in a clearcut majority either way, here's a thought: how about compromising by just limiting the number of "pages" per thread to 2 or 3? Should be configurable in the software, I suspect.
RIGHT!! this is how it should be done ffs! topics go new to old, seeing as the one you had posted in is now at the top anyway. threads go new to old, seeing sa the the first post is ALWAYS the actual 'point' to be therein discussed/or bitched about, ie its what the guy who posted wants to SAY, and not what everyone else 'changed the subject to'...ok leave it alone...its fine

Well you never know GAS, this topic may be a new begining, as it seems Pimp and I actually agree on leaving the thread order as it is... But then again it might not...
