i have never ever been so scared, my stomach just f*n droped when i got the call. i was comming home from work and my brother calls me and says "mike are you off of work yet?" i was like yea sure i am ill be home. he asks me where im at and tells me to look for an accident on elderidge, just a ways from where i work. i ask him why and he tells me that my dad was just hit by a semi trailer. i almost sh!t a brick. hes alright, really shaken up and cut up like crazy. heres some pic of the aftermath... none of those doors are open, persay... what had happened, my dad was driving in the far right lane and the semi was in the left, and started turning on to another road with out signals. my dad was right behind him and hit the brakes sliding in to the trailer when it was turning and dragging the truck. was makes it worse is the cop gave my dad the ticket for "failure to control speed" im like WTF? he went and talked to the trucker for along time get his "side of the story and witness accounts", damn cop only asked for my dads license and insurance, no side of the story for him. then my mom come and gets my dad questioning the cop askin why he didnt take a report from my dad and where the witness reports were. he refused and asked if she was his wife. and was surprised when she said yes. we think he was a racist a$$ cause he cause the way he acted around them both, my dad is hispanic and my mom is white and so was the trucker. and that fuckin cop thought it was pretty dammn funny when my dad was trying get his phone out shaking like hell from the accident, then when the other cop showed up and explained what happened joking and laughing it up after a major accident, how professional. assholes. i just happy my dad is alright, he came out with a lot of cuts but otherwise hes alright. then get this, i leave last night and h goes "dont scratch my truck when you leave"... any one have any legal advice?
I am really glad your Dad is OK. That had tpo be really scary. As far as asking legal advice from this forum? Isn't that about like asking Satan for directions to Heaven? He don't know the way, and even if ne did he wouldn't tell ya. Right??????? My advice is to let your insurance handle it. That is why u pay the premiums. Barry didn't get to go fishing. He is working on the reantl property. He said to tell you hello if i got on line. As far as the pms concernin g my breasts, it aint happening.
"As far as asking legal advice from this forum? Isn't that about like asking Satan for directions to Heaven? He don't know the way, and even if ne did he wouldn't tell ya. Right??????? " How the fuck would you know ? Maybe I studied law before I decided to become an EMT (or fucked a lot of lawyers-it's the same thing)? I resent that gross over-generalization but then again, I am speaking to a fucking cartoon character so what does that say about MY mental health? As far as legality goes, there's not a whole lot you can do, say lawsuit-wise unless your parents are extremely bored and very wealthy and have many years of persuing a "racial discrimination" case which would more than likely result in the outcome of favoring the Fuzz, I.E., the Judge will probably laugh that lawsuit straight out the door- What you CAN do, however, which is an EXTREMELY effective tool I've found, is: A.) contact your local news station and/or write to the editor of your local newspaper decrying the pigs . B.) File a written complaint with the head of Internal Affairs or contact his immediate supervisor directly- you never know: this particular cop might have a history and this can be just another nail in his coffin. Or: C.) Just be thankful your Dad made it out alive and that all that you- and he- have suffered was indignation.
well we are gonna dispute it, that truck most likley isnt going to show up. hes a canadian trucker. as for the cop, this is texas what else could i expect that a hyped up ultra ego racist fuck tard, if theres one thing i hate most its an ingnorant racist. we cant really make a complaint then not have them fuckers with a grudge persuing my ass. one of the vultures there (tow truckers) said that that cop has a history of being cocky and an ass. so we will have to see what happens.
ok so i need to assimilate that you drive on the wrong side of the road... so your dad was on the inside lane.. and the truck was outside him but in front... and approaching a right turn... your dad intended going ahead and the truck turned right.. well then surely the truck would have wanted to be approaching his turn in the right hand lane.. and your dad have been on the outside lane as he didn't intend turning... or maybe they should have been.. i don't know the regional statutes... but while approaching a right turn, with a vehicle with a wide turning circle ahead, your dad should have been aware of the hazard, the truck would have had to slow down to make a turn... which is warning of an intended manoeveur..
If you really want to put the police in some hot water I'd write a letter and try to get it published in the local paper. As far as legal advice you can usually get some kind of free assessment of your case by ambulance chasers who work on a only get paid if the win the case.
ok heres the best pic i can do in paint so you can get the pic of the driving style. the green is my pop and the red is the canuk trucker. being that it wasnt a rush hour nor a crowded road he could take a right in the inside lane. my dad was riding in the right not far behind about 5-10 feet, the guy slowed to about 35 in the turn, the speed limit is 40. my dad being close but far enough to what i assume he was in the blind spot, and not seeing him he assumed that no one was there, remember thats a 40 foot trailer with like a 20 foot semi bringing it to like 60 feet long. my dad hit the trailer about mid and the trailer proceeded to drag the truck. my dad skid for about 40-50 feet before hitting the semi but on lowprofile tires and asphault you can skid a ways compared to cement road. it takes alot to slow a 9000lbs truck and much more for one that tips the scale at 80k
Glad to know he was not hurt worse than a bad shake up..obviously had to have been wearing his seatbelts and/or had an airbag deploy after that one, right? Anyway, yeah, sounds like the cops were a bunch of fucking assholes. I was in a car wreck myself last spring..Was in a left hand signal lane on a busy street on top of a hill..the lights change from arrow to green to yellow to red...car in front of me has the arrow and turns left, but as I am turning it turns green..this car comes barreling over the hill opposite me, going WAY above the speed limit, and slams into my RIGHT REAR passenger side...I didn't have time to react at all it happened to quick. Was told it was MY fault and got a ticket for 'failure to yield' and a totaled car...was shaken up myself, and had a minor concussion..what really sucked it all I had was liability as it was an old car and so was carless for a while. Nursey has a good idea with making waves in a public forum..getting the attention and/or sympathy of the largest number of people possible, through the media, is quite possibly your best shot at changing the outcome on this one, imho.
