I think it was because he was having back trouble, had recently broken his hip and just broke his arm. Sounds like he was in pain and maybe had some osteoperosis. He grew in Louisville where I'm from which is kind of like a small town even though there are over a million people. I know alot of the sons of the people who knew from Male High School. He was arrested right before his high school graduation for robbing somebody of eight dollars in a park I run in during the summer.

If you have accomplished all you intend to in this life, made your mark on society, why wait? his work here was done, in the end most likely his way of saying you can't fire me GOD, I quit.

Plus it was his life, his to do with what he pleased, he left this life as he saw fit.

I bet he was on a lot of pain meds for the hip and back problems. Pain is a powerful motivator to make you do anything to stop it. Opiates can sometimes make it easy to pull the trigger.

He was a bright guy. Very sad.

Yeah, whatever. That's one less gun-toting fucked-up acid head getting more airtime than he deserves.

    Dunno about that.

    sad.

wonder if this means "Duke" from Doonesbury will be written as dying too? The character was loosely based on Thompson.
