On this day in 1996, we lost a great singer, a great guitar player, and a great all-around man. Bradley Nowell, former lead singer of Sublime, died of a heroin overdose in a hotel in San Francisco. Today, his music is still being played around the world, and his legacy will never be forgotten.

Sublime is one of the most influential bands ever. They basically invented a style of music. Great bands such as Slightly Stoopid and Bargain Music are descendents of, and have been inspired by, Sublime.

One less junkie. Why are the ones we attest to be great influential music phenoms are the most self destructive, drugged up twats soicety has to offer? There music was mediocre at best.

John lennon was a great loss to music and the world alike, he still had so much to offer.

This fellow from sublime was an eventuality that you face when shooting herion, if you don't stop it will kill you, the real tragedy is that it didn't kill his shitty bob marley wannabe music sooner. Just let him be a memory, a nice song that bring nice memories back. that's it. they are part of the past.

I only wish Kurt Cobain had done the same before he attained any fame, then i wouldn't have to listen to some drugged up cunt strum 3 cords and spew quasi-philisophical bullshit and call it music on the radio. As natural progession has it the one with any real talent went on to make some fantastic non depressed more than 3 cord music.

So in closing, I just wished he had got a hot pack sooner so threads like this could be avoided in the future. **pops The Mars Volta in my cd player, ahh real music**

I found a moving remembrance page with images of Brad's 'garbage of love' strewn tombstone as well as his poignant 'memorial gutter'.

Nah his music was above average, not too big a fan myself, but a very good songwriter. Such as other "self destructive, drugged up twats soicety has to offer" as Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon.

Brad was ahead of his time; a visionary and yes, one fucked up dude. His music is amazing...not so much for his capability on the guitar or his voice: it was the whole "vibe" of their genre...and Sublime did it first...One of their major influences was Bob Marley; their music is steeped in Reggae, as well as punk and ska.

The fact that I even have to explain the whole thing is just another affirmation that some people are fucking lame; light up, get a fucking clue and listen-- really listen--before you pass judgment.

..."The next day she went to her drawer, looked up her local attorney at law,
went to the phone and filed the police report and then she took the guy's ass to court.
Well, the day he stood in front of the judge he screamed, "She lies that little slut!"
The judge knew that he was full of shit and he gave him 25 years
And now his heart is filled with fear.

One night in jail it was getting late.
He was butt-raped by a large inmate, and he screamed.
But the guards paid no attention to his cries.

That's when things got out of control.
The moral of the date rape story, it does not pay to be drunk and horny.
But that's the way it had to be.
They locked him up and threw away the key.
Well, I can't take pity on men of his kind,
even though he now takes it in the behind.

But that's the way it had to be.
They locked him up and threw away the key.
Well, I can't take pity on men of his kind,
even though he now takes it in the behind.
    DATE RAPE!

She didn't want to take it!
She didn't want to take it!
She didn't want to take it!
She didn't want to take it!"

Yes, it was an odd choice, seeing as how that song isn't even in my top favorite of theirs; and no, Barry's consultations wouldn't be able to analyze anything: more like a random choice.

    No Freudian slip here, baby.
