I recently requested to have no funeral, no viewing, no burial, and no cremation. I want my body to go to medical science. Part me out (donate organs) and let students play with the rest... I dont care if it is plastic surgery or whatever. Still looking into places that might want me. I also saw on a show one time that there is a place where people donate their body, and they use it help teach forensic, they basically dump you in a big field and watch your decomposing progress. I think it was TN. Of course I would rather go to medical studies, but forensic would be my 2nd choice.

My sister is throwing a fit. I just dont feel that rotting in an expensive box, with a fancy funeral is worth all the money... and why burn a body when someone can learn from it...just seems like a waste. I would rather help in teaching students.

The thought of people I know all coming together to talk about me, and cry and laugh about old times... just seems stupid, because I cant talk back, or defend myself and explain some of the crazy stories. And the whole idea of people I know looking at me - dead in box...ugg I know they would not do my make up right. And I think my sister wants me to be cremated so she can buy a fancy nick knack to put me in.

so what do you think... am I being selfish in my wishes? That was the word my mom and sister used "SELFISH" ... because they cant throw a pity party, and dress up and be all dramatic.

Funerals are for the living and not the dead. I have stated over and over that I DO NOT want a funeral. I hate funerals. They don't do anything but make people sad.

I don't want embalmed or anything like that. I want a "green" burial like Nate had on Six Feet Under. They pretty much just throw you in the ground in a burlap sack and that is fine with me.

    http://www.greenburials.org/

But I don't think they do them where I live. I keep forgetting to call and find out what you need to start a family cemetery. We have one way out in the sticks and I could probably be buried out there. I want to be way the hell out in the middle of nowhere in a cheap ass wooden box like the old days.

I used to want a big funeral and all the junk that went with it years ago, but I've matured since then.

I would actually like to kill myself in a place that is way the hell out where no one would ever find my body. I would like the wild animals to eat me.

I knew a guy whose suicide plan was to kill himself way out in the ocean and I think that's a good idea, but I'd prefer to do it on land.

If I ever kill myself, I would do it in way they could bring me back, but right in front of a hospitial, with all my medical records.. blood type, last blood tests.. so they could use my organs.

I have seen so many kids die while waiting for an organ... it really fucks up your head. So if I ever killed myself, someone would gain something from it.

but I dont think I would want to kill myself... why would I kill the coolest person I know?

I am an (not on) organ donor. I am not waiting for an organ, although a nice good working small intestine would be swell.

I agree funerals are a racket.

Put me in a pine box like in the westerns and bury me somewhere cheap. Its not like it really matters.

And your worrying me. I hope your not depressed.

no not at all.. a little freaked out ... my sister's husband , (my bro in law) lost his 2 sisters in the past 2 months. Both under 40 and healthy. So it gets ya thinking ...you can go at any time.

weird thing is, I kinda want to adopt one of the kids of one of the sisters. I feel sorry for him. He has a dad that is crap, and took his brother, but told the other one to go live with the grandma. The grandma and kid just moved here from AL last weekend, staying in my sister's rental house. The grandma is in the ER right now...and is in bad health. The kid is sweet as can be, and I feel sorry for him.

damn my life is always full of drama. we will see how it all plays out.

These things are called "body farms". Sounds morbid, but that's what they're called.

Well donating your body to science is a righteous thing.

I miss the old pine box days. There is a huge profit margin for funeral homes. 10k for a casket? then add in the vault that they put the casket in, just so they can preserve the casket? Whatever.

Im an organ donor and I give it to the wife whenever I can, oh wait, you meant internal organs.... my bad.

Nah, really I am a donor. I even thought about donating stuff I could live with out now. Why wait till I kick to give someone a good kidney? The crappy thing is I have some special blood that has never been exposed to some virus and I am always giving blood, because it is something that babies need. So I do that with pretty much regularity.

He lived in Italy for a year when he was in the airforce so he can't give blood.

    Red Cross says:

There is now evidence from a small number of case reports involving patients and laboratory animal studies that vCJD can be transmitted through transfusion. There is no test for vCJD in humans that could be used to screen blood donors and to protect the blood supply. This means that blood programs must take special precautions to keep vCJD out of the blood supply by avoiding collections from those who have been where this disease is found.
