I live in the Dallas area and I can tell you this is the coolest butterfly in my perspective. This same species comes in every summer about this time of year. This same species is the only one I know of that does this. If he is fluttering around in the back yard then hold your hand out he will land on your hand. Did this several times and did not have a camera but this time the camera was out on the back porch and I was swimming I was able to get my wife to hand it to me. The thing about this moth is that if you were to head for the house it would jump off before entering the house. So I'm no moth/butterfly expert but I think it may be of interesting note to them so I e-mailed a butterfly expert from my area. Will be interesting to know more about it and have it identified. I also used these sites and I figured it out but I hope the information is of some benefit to their little community of enthusiasts.
