Howard too cozy with Washington June 25 2002, AAP Labor frontbencher Mark Latham has described Australian Prime Minister John Howard as an "arse-licker" who failed to back Australia's interests during his trip to the United States. In an interview with The Bulletin magazine, Mr Latham said "Howard is an 'arse-licker'," he told the magazine. "He went over there, kissed some bums, and got patted on the head. "He should have used that address to the Congress to throw back at the Americans all their empty rhetoric about free trade." Mr Latham said he would continue to strongly attack the government and Mr Howard.
