Ok first some background information. When I worked at NutraSweet the I.T. Director job came open when my boss, and friend, decided to go back to work for the gubment. Well when they started to interview for the job, everyone in the department put in for it, of course. We all interviewed and were asked all the usual ya ya questions. When they selected the 'winner' the plant manager came around and talked to everyone individually regarding why they chose who they did, and why it wasnt you. So he comes to me and explains that they chose "D" and not me because he has more years experience (Not a better education or more degress), and that he was surprised at how well I interviewed. I took it with a grain of salt because I liked my job and my co-workers. Well as raise time came around again we all got stiffed due to the 'business' and it was another year with no pay increase. I looked elsewhere and left. The plant manager was the same one who laid off my friend, after hiring him not even a year prior. My friend left a good, stable, job for the position at NS. Well today I read something on the local paper and thought, 'that name looks familiar', so below I offer the news article, and the mug shot. Please help me decide, I am thinking poetic justice, but Im open for other ideas. LINK: http://chronicle.augusta.com/stories/latest/lat_500482.shtml PICTURE:
Nah. That place is about as belly up as moby dick at a cook out. I prefer to just take my knowledge and move on. They called me for weeks after I left, I finally told them I couldnt help them anymore. Its sweet like that.
The sad thing is when I turned in my notice they basically begged me to stay 3 weeks instead of 2 for turnover, so I did. Then I spent what seemed like hours just sitting in my office because no one had 'time' to cross train. Bunch of retards. I was the only person with programming knowledge of the Old Lucent Definity phone switch, no one else even had a login, and no one bothered to ask about it. I was in charge of the security system (badges and proxy sensors), all th switches and routers, T-1s, no one else was wanting to learn it. I guess they figured I would change my mind. I have been gone 2 years and I am making over 20k more a year.
I have learned that the problem is in this field the upper management often times has no idea what their employees are worth and the mid management does not care.
I think mid-management is trying to impress upper management that they take it in the can to make the uppers happy. My boss now reports directly to the GM, so I dont have any hierarchy crap to go through. Plus she backs up her people (especially me cause Im such a good employee). I have seen her lower the boom on some people and it is funny. Watching grown men squirm in their chair because of the ass chewin they are getting.
