I love it. I live pretty close but never went until today now I can't wait to go back. Oh, went to my first IKEA and I hated it. It's like a store version of the maze scene of The Shining. Fuck! And so many people and the employees have about as much personality as their wax paper lamps.
Aesthetically, it's a cool ass town. Downtown surrounded by water and bridges and big tall buildings... you've been to my hometown. You know that's big city to me.
Have not been to Pittsburgh since the 70's as a kid. I remember then driving across the bridge and smelling the stink from manufacturing I think it was a tire plant. Not putting it down that is just what I remember. I hear its a lot different now they cleaned all that up. As for IKEA yeah the maze is annoying. If you wanted to live in small little 700 sqft apartments their furniture would be more appealing I suppose its so small scale, does not look good with any decor except that weird modern look. I did go there a second time out of desperation I was looking for an entertainment center for the bedroom and knew I could not match the furniture so I wanted something tall and wide that would just be used to hold the cable box and such because the TV is mounted on the wall. All their wide stuff was like two feet tall max. So I settled for what was supposed to be a room divider at Costco. ">
Well yes the bridges are a nice view but they are a HUGE pain in the ass when you try to drive a 70 foot vehicle over them. Some won't even let me cross because I weigh too much. If you went down by the waterfront, you must have also seen the port. Now that place looks like a homeless alley surrounded by abandoned buildings. Thing is.... they aren't abandoned. Businesses actually operate out of those run down things. I've been in them. Nasty as hell. On another note, I liked your town. It was quiet and you could navigate it very easily. Big enough to find entertainment.... small enough not to be riddled with crime and neglect.
I posted a few on my Facebook mobile uploads. Just a few. It was getting dark by the time we got 'dahntahn' and my camera was dying so they are shitty. Joe, yeah IKEA was like walking through dorm room after dorm room. I felt like I was on an MTV set. People were like actually hanging out in the 'rooms'. It was weird. I half expected to walk in on someone having sex.
Yeah IKEA groupies. Some of the organizational stuff is cool you know if its tucked away inside a closet or something like that. But most of it seems so damn cheap. Like at self assembled particle board crap you buy at discount stores.
