This, in effect, had him eating his own words, as the Democrats would boycott any measure he set forth, and at the same time, increasing the tax penalty on the American people.

Actually Bush did not initially fire them on the contrary Bush was more accommodating then any other president with the previous administrations appointees. The stupidity of this one is mind numbing especially the fact that the media was able to pull off con-game on such a massive scale.

Once again yes Bush took a big hit on this one but under false pretenses. Although to the Libertarians this would stink no matter what the reasons, pretenses, or restrictions. The story was made out like Bush was wiretapping innocent U.S. citizens Bush only wiretapped maggots infesting our country who had known communications with known terrorists.

Bush's popularity was gone long before the democrats took the majority in congress. Why do you think they gained so much power to begin with? Because people hated Bush and the republican party by proxy.
