I have been a member of NBR for almost a year now, and am dismayed by the prejudicial attitudes of the moderators, and the eventual closing of the Everything Political Forum, which at times had varying degrees of intellectually relevant exchanges of ideas concerning race, religion, and war. Unfortunately, whenever the discussions got to the "meat" of a topic, some of the moderators would step in and either delete posts which did not strike a chord with their point of view, or delete and close entire threads. Anybody here been a member of that site and care to comment? Or for that matter, care to comment about fair/unfair moderation practices in general? All opinions are welcome.
The Official NBR announcement went as follows: Due to concerns our advertiser's have expressed with promoting their brands on a forum that allows controversial political and religious discussion, TechTarget management and legal counsel has requested we close this forum down so not to damage the ability to attract advertisers and thereby keep the forums running to support those looking for help with laptops. As of 2PM EST this forum section will be closed until further notice.
Uh, welcome to the forum and all, but I can gaurantee you there are less people on here that care about that place closing it's forum than there were Jews at Hitlers funeral. Just an FYI.
Thanks for the welcome. If you google laptop reviews, that forum is usually one of the first to pop up. Perhaps I give more credit and importance to that site than it merits.
That might have been the smartest thing you said since you got here! There are a few 'techies' but we really dont get juiced over IT stuff. Well maybe someone does, but not most.
I have an account there, but I sparingly check it out to see the new notebooks and the reviews they get. Its a good forum to get tips on stuff like how to make your pc boot up faster.
