Ok I reciently got a Motorola E815 which is a pretty damn cool phone Verizon discontinued it after a few short weeks not sure why except that there is a hack that aloows calls that are more clear basically by taking up more of their tower bandwidth. Possibly that pissed them off. Any ways it has an additional memory card that will hold currently up to 500mb of data and and it seems that is mostly usefull for mp3's or if you take a really lot of pictures with it. My question is regarding Ringtones. Where is a good place to get really cool ring and ringback tones? I'll try to gather all the specs and stats for the phone and post it on Dwains previous thread.
When you say 'discontinued' it, do you mean that the Verizon stores stopped selling them, or that they stopped service on that specific model phone, for all the people that already have one?
Apparently they stopped selling them I still use one and am on the plan. http://direct.motorola.com/ENS/Web_...29716&strPrimaryOption=FS&lSecondaryOption=-3 It is a pretty cool phone. I may get he extra added memory although As far as I can it's only good for maybe MP3's I have the Snap Synch software and data cable and upgraded it to work with this phone. This is great for easily adding phone numbers and such via the computer however it does not see the phone's memory as an external drive. I bet it may however with the added memory and if the pictures would store there then it would be a worthwhile investment.
Check out these e815 hacks like for instance enabling gps mode. http://himself.wordpress.com/tag/motorola-e815/motorola-e815-hacking/ http://hardware.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/07/19/0048236&tid=100&tid=222&tid=193&tid=137 http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=674803
Here is my phone, details about it can be found here.... http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Detail.aspx?device=2a576632-e727-4d58-b83f-8d6c6ea6baf9 I like it, and the best part is that it's free............
I thought about getting one I like the keyboard on that model. I just would not want to carry it around. Have you tried out that app going around that allows to to have several divverent messenger accounts? It's like trillian for pda's. The service techs I dispatch out use them and one was showing me. pretty cool.
Yeah Dwain I started to resurrect your old "Post your cell phones" thread but I got tired of digging around trying to find it.
I actually have mine set for my exchange box at work, going through our little bberry server. It has a blackberry messenger that you can connect to other users in your 'group' simple invite/accept, and then you can download MSN, ICQ, AOL, and even Yahoo messenger, well they are all on one download, but you can set them all up. It works pretty good as a phone, it comes with all the accesories you will need, including the 'holster' and the battery lasts about 5 days with normal use. So not too shabby. Plus I like the browser, its not as cool as the 'pearl' as far as the internet goes, but I can browse fugly and post messages pretty good, and the images come across pretty good.
Well according to the third link : http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=674803 I pretty much have everything I need except a legal copy of Motorola Phone Tools. So that I can hack it. Kinda scary to think about though cause I don't want to screw it up. That being said I need to look at what I can do with the phone tools suite by it's self I'd be happy if I could simply be able to put my own ringtones in instead of being required to go through the verizion. It would be neat to turn on several of the other features though.
I actually hate cell phones, if it wasnt a neccessity for work, i wouldnt have one. Of course since I got to have one, I might as well have a nice one. I dont have a blu'toof (thats how its pronounced in the hood) hands free set, but it did come with a 'wired' version. I wish my truck had the hands free blue tooth, but apparently Dodge put all the R&D into generating HP and not so much on cool features.
