I transplanted a little sapling from my old house in Tennessee to Texas (Japanese Maple) Four years later its still only three foot tall. That smoke tree looks kinda like a tree native to the South but on steroids as for the blooms. Trying to remember the name. This time of year to mid summer you can smell the sweet fragrance a block away. Which is cool if you like that.
hadn't considered that aspect, but as the saying goes; A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. I have a Stoeger pellet rifle that does 1200 fps with PBA Raptor pellets but it sounds almost like a .22 going off. I just hate having to spit out bb's while eating game birds. they're wicked crunchy when you chew them.
Yeah, the smoke tree is a southern tree. They are different colors. I don't know if they would fair well here or not. I think I have seen one or two around though. That's how I found it. I will have to go drive by that house and see if it is blooming yet.
I was thinking of a mimosa tree I believe the leaves are different but the blooms similar. http://www.fireflyforest.com/flowers/pinks/pink40.html
I love Mimosas here mimosa trees are like weeds, I looked at a house a few weeks ago, the yard was taken over by a million little baby trees. You can cut them down, but you need pull them up from the root. I had a similar problem at my old house with Rose of Sharron trees... millions of babies... but they have long tap roots, so after some hurricane over 5 years ago... we almost got flooded, the yard was soggy, I went out and pulled them up. Gave a bunch away, now everyone I know has a few of my trees in their yard. man all this gardening talk is making me mad that I dont have a house yet... I cant wait to have a pretty yard again. My back yards always look like hell thanks to dogs... but the front always looks like Martha Stewart on meth lives there. Being in a rental sucks... cause I dont care about it... I dont plant anything, or even keep it up... it stays cut and that is it- it is nothing but weeds anyway.
In keeping with not keeping on subject... I recall from an early 1900's silent film pornography the following quote: "A push in the bush is worth two in the hand..."
