sucked today. My head was crooked in that cage thingy and legs were all spasmy as usual. I won't get my results until next week. It will most likely be a pituitary adenoma. My prolactin level is high and it would explain the damage to my optic nerves.

I have Cushing's and have had pituitary tumors removed 3 times. It was no big deal . The part I hated the most was having that silly putty crap stuffed up my nose, after surgery.

damn thing keeps growing back, as soon as I empty my uterus, I have to go back and have checked again.

Funny you posted the Wilson Phillips video ... when I was at my fatest ... I had bangs and someone told me I looked like her .... YIKES I have a strong hate for her now.

from my first MRI they told me about the tumor that day, I wonder why you have to wait...

I hope it's just hyper-hypochondria, Nauseous. Good luck.

    Thanks, Nursey.

Icenhour, they did one three years ago and it came back normal. Now with my levels up again and the nerve damage in my eye, along with headaches and dizziness, they are checking again.

More than likely, it would be a non-secreting pituitary adenoma.

My sister had Cushings. I think it was caused by cortisone injections that she had into her back.

Why would someone tell you that you looked like Carnie unless they were just being a dick?

mine was caused by the tumor, plus I had a tumor on one of my adrenal glands ... had the whole adrenal removed...
I am freaked out that my high levels might mess with the baby... I had my tubes tied when I had my c-section 8 years ago... I guess it did not work.

Cushings sucks.... I would be fat - skinny -fat -skinny .. my face will always be red and I have to wear drag queen make up....

if you do have to have pituitary surgery .... its is very easy ... one time I came home the same day .

How did they find the tumor on your adrenal glands? An ultrasound?

My sister was really puffy... she had the moon shaped face and gained a lot of weight. She was pregnant and went through it and her son was totally fine. So, I think you will be too. :)

I got the MRI back and they didn't find anything. So I'm not going to worry about the prolactin level. I didn't start until I found out it was high anyway and it's not super high and wasn't high at all last year, so fuck it. I have never had my cortisol level checked. I don't even want to know how high that shit is as stressed as I always am.

I don't mean to be condescending, but i think the more you look for problems, the more you will find them. You can't be too much of a perfectionist or you will actually create problems for yourself. How about - rather than focusing on what is wrong with you, focus on what is right and also look into dietry/lifestyle changes rather than changes in prescription drugs. Have you ever been for an aromatherpay massage? They are quite powerful. I felt as if i had been given a horse tranquiliser after i had just a face and hand massage once, though i had only had a few hours sleep the night before, but still. I had to fight to keep my eyes open afterwards. I think stress causes far more problems than you might imagine, and the best way to deal with stress is natural, not chemical.

    I'd like to try acupuncture.

I probably also need hypnotherapy. I'm seriously considering it. Everyone around me is well-adjusted and I am a total mess.

I hope you turn out to be OK, Pukey. I have a pituitary adenoma too, but it's stayed small enough that I haven't had to have it removed.

Maybe if those who you view as 'well adjusted' fretted about themsleves as much as you, they would also believe they were a mess? You're just human, probably. I highly recommend acupuncture. It is as advanced as it is ancient, which is why it continues to stand the tests of time.

    So you've done it?

I think if I went in for massage therapy, I would never leave. They would have to physically remove me from the building.

    Thanks!

Do you have to take bromocriptine or anything for it?

My brain scan came out okay, so I am not worrying over it. I'm sure I have some vestibular issue with the tinnitus and vertigo and all.

Yeah. Under 10 times. I'd go regularly if the clinic where i get free treatment (i know the clinic manager) was nearer. But i didn't have anything much wrong with me when i got it. Poor appetite, stress and dysfunctional sleep patterns are my worst problems. I've seen / heard some amazing successes though. And the doctor even treated someone at the desk for something which cured their 'golf wrist' or something (i.e. not getting them to sign up for a full course of pricey treatments). Word gets out so it was good advertising. There was a disabled woman who had numbness in her legs for about 18 years who then started to regain sensation.
And i'd be the same about a professional massage. Maybe Limpy could help us. *shudder*

I would be an insomniac if I didn't take a sleeping pill every night and I know that it's not normal. Stress is my middle name. It would be nice to get some sort of "release" without having to take a drug for it.

I'm seriously considering it. Since my nerves are so bad, I have to take something in order to go anywhere. Would taking Ativan or something of the sort be a bad idea before going? I've heard acupuncture makes you sleepy.

Yes it can. Or it can do the complete opposite. It depends. As far as ativan goes, you would need to ask the doctor his/her opinion. It might be wise to begin with until you can manage without it.

I'm going to look around. Do they need any special certification or anything in particular I should look for?

Definately, there should be a licensing body (or maybe more than one) that they are registered with, but i'm not sure what they are in America, so you'll have to investigate that thoroughly. Here's a couple of links that might be useful:

    http://www.medicalacupuncture.org/findadoc/index.html
    http://nccam.nih.gov/health/acupuncture/

Many Chinese Medicine practitioners who come over from China are also fully qualified (conventional) medical doctors, which can be useful as well as reassuring. But i'm sure there are many perfectly good acupuncturists who aren't.
