I thought I would never watch movies in a theater again anytime soon, but Iron Man look pretty cool, I may catch it tomorrow, matinée showing of course.
I fucking hate theaters. $10 per person to sit in an uncomfortable chair with 100 other people, each with either their cell phone, noisy kid, irritable bowel syndrome/weak bladder (or combination of the two), etc... With no pause button for the rare times I have to stop a movie to piss. Much better to see movies at home, from the comfort of my own couch. Just scored a Yamaha 770W 7.1 THX receiver, debating on whether or not to replace the Denon 5.1 (this would mean more crawling in the attic.) Decisions, decisions.
well the matinee showing here costs $6. What I like about matinees(even for a Friday around here) it never gets packed, so its not all that bad.
Im taking my 7 year old to see Iron Man today, after school. Some movies I like to see in the theatre. Especially the latest SuperHero ones, I like them on the HD box at home, but it doesnt compare to the theater. When we watch "Transformers" at home my wife gets mad cause I crank the surround sound so high. Maybe I will just put down some green on a HD Projector. Maybe have a theater room in my next house. Put some dynamat in the walls, a kegirator (SP?), some nice recliners. Yea, I think that might be on the agenda.
My older brothers play in a band, when they were growing up they insulated the garage/makeshift family room, so their music wouldnt come out so loud and it really helped. They would play really loud and everyone else in the house could barely hear it. After they moved out, we converted it into a movie room, with surround sound, HD projector, and hooked it up to the pc to control it from there sometimes. I miss being over there sometimes, if only to download a movie and watch it there. Good stuff if you do that.
fuck. Changed my plans today...I was going to see it in IMAX, found out it would cost $15/ticket, so we didnt go, then we just ended up not going. Sucked.
Saw 300 in IMAX, that was the last movie I had seen there. Its cool, but sometimes it kinda gets annoying, like you get the feeling when you sit at the very front of a regular theater and you have to constantly keep looking up. Its worth it though.
The Imax at Dulles Smithsonian is awesome. And only 10.00 a person. Of course you can only take water in there, no popcorn or candy, but hey its an awesome theater. I wish one of the jack ass theaters here would pony up and build one, but so far they are all pusses.
