When I saw this on the 1.99 theatre sign I thought one of the Employees was tired of working there and put that on the board. Synopsis - A NYC photographer is tired of being an ambulance chaser and selling photos to the tabloids. So he is an 'artist' and wants a show. Brooke Shields (the artist guru) tells him that his photos are just not edgy enough to catch the 'heart of the city' So he starts ventruing into the subway to get better 'shots'. Long story short, the story is retarded. However some of the 'gore' scenes are hilarious. My wife and I went to see this and by the end I think we were both thinking it would have been better if it was a porn. Of course I will admit that from now on I am using midnight meat train as a reference to getting frisky. I will not, however, be buying a conductors hat.
I thought for sure some kid was messing around with the sign. Fandango did have a horrible description of the movie though, not remotely close to what it really was.
I've been wanting to see this movie. I'm a huge Clive Barker fan. He wrote the original story. I'm not sure how true the movie was to the original, but the short-story was pretty good, though not one of his best. The story behind this movies release is pretty f'ed up. Basicly, the new head of Lions Gate did everything he legally could to bury this movie. I've heard it was because he was offended by the content, but I think it had more to do with internal politics. It's complicated, but you can look it up online. Despite your review, I still hope to be able to see this movie eventually. Not all of Barkers stories translate as well to film as Hellraiser, but for the most part they've been decent (Lord of Illusions, Nightbreed, Candyman...)
If you like the gore and all it will be worth the price of admission. It was good from some standpoints. Just the story was lacking.
