Some how I get the feeling I may be the only one who watched this movie. My wife had a pal from work over she brought it. I'm glad cause I would have never picked it up off the shelf.

It was pretty good. I think because of the realism of the characters...well maybe grandpa was a little over the top. The honesty of the script is refreshing. In the end at some level even if people do not admit it they relate at some level with the characters.

This would not be the mind blowing great movie that I would say "You just gotta see this great movie". But to miss it because its not the type movie you would normally choose would be a shame. A rainy day flick.

Can someone tell me what sort of genere this would fall under? That is if anyone has seen it.

I wouldn't want to lay any spoilers in here with a warning on the topic, but it was well twsited.

Yes, I spelled it wrong on purpose.

it was OK, and well the end was predictable by the way certain cast members acted. It was not worth the hype or the award nods it got.

I just thought it was a chick flick and would not have in a million years picked it out myself. I guess what I liked is the way the movie had fun at the expense of different types of people or different idiosyncrasies. As for the family it was like going on one of those family trips. Where you know each other well enough that things are annoying amongst each other but....its family. I had no idea it was well reviewed but figured it was one of those obscure nobody saw flicks.

I need to watch more movies.

I didn't expect much, and when I was finally convinced into seeing it I didn't like it at all. It just wasn't funny at all, or even entertaining...I didn't even crack a smile while I was watching it. I think I've laughed more from Battlestar Galactica, and that's a drama!

I was talking to a buddy about politics, corruption, and the vague nature of blackmail. And he asked me did I see "The Departed" recomended I check it out. Was it about blackmail?

I just glanded through the pics on IMB. Looks like a lot of big names in that movie. I figure they sacrificed some realism and made DiCaprio into some sort of street-wise bad-ass. But other than that it looks to be a good flick just judging by the cast.

It's really odd that this thread should resurface on the very night I watched this movie for the first time (the ex brought it over). I actually liked it. It was painfully predictable, down to the dialog in some parts, but enjoyable nonetheless. In keeping with the 'let's not spoil it' motif, I almost puked when I saw the scene towards the end (not the part starring one of the main characters, rather, the depiction of the event that she was taking part in) - The 'announcer' guy looked like a cross between Pee-Wee Herman and Nicholas Cage, and those 'starlets' - that was the real kicker. It kind of opened my eyes to the fact that this sort of shit really happens, and there are people out there exploiting their children in such a fashion - no wonder we have so many emotionally-stricken basket cases these days. Seriously, it was sick.

But yeah, I was laughing throughout most of the movie. I'm beginning to have a greater appreciation for Steve Carell's dynamicity as an actor, too.
