If you all remember Barry's post regarding a car he donated to a Katrina 'victim' and it's associated license plate. Here is my little story and where we are currently at.

I sold my 92 Honda Accord DX Auto, about 2 days before barry posted his 'ticket in norfolk' post. The couple came to my house with one of thems Mother. They were probably in their late 30s with a little girl. They bought the car for 2000.00 cash, I drew up a bill of sale, and signed over the title.

Here is where my stupidity and naivity(naive) come into play. The guy asked if I could leave the tag on the car so they wouldnt get pulled over on their way home, and that they would drop it off in the am after getting their new tag. "Ok" I figured these peoples was on the up and up and that I would see the plates tomorrow. They said they would just drop them on the front porch if no one was home. I get home the next afternoon around 6 and no plates. So I call.

"Oh we have been so busy getting tires/oil change/insurance that we havent had a chance to get by the tag office. We will do it first thing monday"

Monday comes and goes and no plates. So I call.

"I have been so busy at work I havent been able to get by the tag office, I will do it tomorrow for sure"

Tuesday comes and no plates. So I call, no answer so I leave a message. This goes on every other day until I actually change jobs and get a new cell phone. I call, leave a voicemail, "If I dont hear back, I will go to the tag office and call the plates stolen"

    I get a call back.

"Sorry the car has been in the transmission shop, since it was slipping, and we havent had a chance to get the plates off of it"

That was on Friday the 11th. Today, at 10:40 AM I get a call from the richmond county sherrifs office. The car was clocked doing 70 in a 25. Three african americans in the car and then it was abandoned before the officer could catch them.

Officer "Mr. ZZ do you own a blue honda?"

Me "I used to, I sold it a few weeks back, I have caught hell trying to get the tags from the people that bought it"

Officer "What color was the purchaser of the car?" (Yes he really asked me this)

    Me "huh?"

Officer "the person that bought the car, were they black"

Me "Oh, no they were white"

Officer "Do you have their name and number?"

Me "Yep" and I gave them her name and cell number.

About 10 minutes goes by and he calls me back

Officer "Mr. ZZ, uh this car is still registered to you and I really dont want to leave it sitting here in this area"

Me "I can come get it"

    Officer "ok"

So I go get the car from a very very bad area. The officer tells me that he saw three guys in the car, and that they apparently abandoned it after he turned around to get them. So I get in the car, and it smells like someone spilled beer all in it and it has sat out in the sun. I drove it to a friend of mines body shop to have it impounded. So if they want the car they have to go to him to get it, and they have to pay 'storage' fees. If they dont get it in 90 days, he takes it, and I get it back. Of course they cant get it till they have insurance and a tag for it.....HA HA HA HA F'ing crack heads.

So I made 1200 on the car, and I will probably be getting it back in about 89 days.......

    Anyone want a car? XC.....LOL...... :-\

I got a letter from the state of Virginia today. They politely marked the ticket "paid in full", but did not drop the charges.
