If it were a mega zit surrounding a hair follicle it would be a boil or furuncle. That is different from folliculitis in that it is a deeper infection possible requiring incision and drainage or antibiotics. People predisposed for staph infections boils and such are somtimes instructed to create a mild bleach solution and bathe in it to decolonize the skin. I think you should stick to psychology..

 

staph is not the only cause of folliculitis although it is the most common.
