The government will not collapse, but will preemptively adapt to the troubles that it forsees.

    Key Findings of the Pentagon

    · Future wars will be fought over the issue of survival rather than religion, ideology or national honour.

    · By 2007 violent storms smash coastal barriers rendering large parts of the Netherlands uninhabitable. Cities like The Hague are abandoned. In California the delta island levees in the Sacramento river area are breached, disrupting the aqueduct system transporting water from north to south.

    · Between 2010 and 2020 Europe is hardest hit by climatic change with an average annual temperature drop of 6F. Climate in Britain becomes colder and drier as weather patterns begin to resemble Siberia.

    · Deaths from war and famine run into the millions until the planet's population is reduced by such an extent the Earth can cope.

    · Riots and internal conflict tear apart India, South Africa and Indonesia.

    · Access to water becomes a major battleground. The Nile, Danube and Amazon are all mentioned as being high risk.

    · A 'significant drop' in the planet's ability to sustain its present population will become apparent over the next 20 years.

    · Rich areas like the US and Europe would become 'virtual fortresses' to prevent millions of migrants from entering after being forced from land drowned by sea-level rise or no longer able to grow crops. Waves of boatpeople pose significant problems.

    · Nuclear arms proliferation is inevitable. Japan, South Korea, and Germany develop nuclear-weapons capabilities, as do Iran, Egypt and North Korea. Israel, China, India and Pakistan also are poised to use the bomb.

    · By 2010 the US and Europe will experience a third more days with peak temperatures above 90F. Climate becomes an 'economic nuisance' as storms, droughts and hot spells create havoc for farmers.

    · More than 400m people in subtropical regions at grave risk.

    · Europe will face huge internal struggles as it copes with massive numbers of migrants washing up on its shores. Immigrants from Scandinavia seek warmer climes to the south. Southern Europe is beleaguered by refugees from hard-hit countries in Africa.

    · Mega-droughts affect the world's major breadbaskets, including America's Midwest, where strong winds bring soil loss.

    · China's huge population and food demand make it particularly vulnerable. Bangladesh becomes nearly uninhabitable because of a rising sea level, which contaminates the inland water supplies.

Not exactly the most reliable story I've ever seen. How do you know any of that is true? They don't quote any source, they don't put any of the information back to the Pentagon. How do you know they didn't just pull that out of there ass and attribute it to the Pentagon?

Some of this is undeniably true. Within few years a lot more will be so. Remember that our economy relies on cancorous growth. ( This year close to 5% ) In addition the melting of the sibirean tundra will release trillions of tons of methane.
The predicted scenario is not the only viable one, but dramatic change with dire consequences is undeniably ahead

An interesting parable is the reduction in the number of species the last years. You can count the last 100, last 1000, last 10000 or many such. In addition the remaining wildlife is greatly reduced and cut of from natural reproduction in small pockets.
Its 700 years since lions roamed in Israel. Its a few years since you had major cod of new foundland. 150 years ago 25lb lobster was the norm. Now we eat chicken that just ate chickenshit. Shit will hit the fan

Most importantly, when it does happen, violently enough for the world to raise a brow, the shit storm will only continue at a very fast rate. We won't be prepared. Anyone watch "The Day After Tomarrow"? That movie's logic is very accurate, although I obviously don't believe, what was it, 5 twisters are going to hit L.A. simultaneously. The Gulf Stream is actually vital to the way our Earth conducts itself currently. But fuck, we all have to die anyway. So might as well be with everyone else, no? At least we won't be missing much.

well actually the guardian IS a reliable source...

and since it'd be prudent for a country's central defense command to do worst case scenarios then it's not all that far fetched that the pentagon, or a thinktank thereof.. commissioned or published a report with those worst case scenarios in it....

Shall we see what The Guardian has to say about Joe Wilson? If your only source of information were the Guardian what would you know about Joe Wilson and the infamous Valerie Plume leak?

Ah yes very to go to the Guardian web page and do a google search of Current site with Joe Wilson as the search target. Hmmm seem like according to "The Guardian" the right wing media is trying to sweep under the rug how Joe Wilson has debunked the presidents enriched uranium claim.

What a ridiculous claim! Lets cover what the “Reliable” Guardian seems to have missed out on.
    1. Joe Wilson said that he was asked by the vice press. To check out the Uranium claims personally going to Niger (Lie)
    2. Claimed that he debriefed the CIA and expressed concern that there were forged documents (proven lie)
    3. Claimed that his little truth finding excursion lays to rest weather or not Saddam tried to purchase Uranium from Niger (CIA representatives actually said that the little information he provided gave further reason to believe that Uranium purchase attempt claim is true)
    4. Claimed that his wife was ousted as a covert CIA operative to get revenge by the Whitehouse. (actually she was not a covert operative just a simple administrative office worker. And It was commonly known that she worked for the CIA)
    5. Joe Wilson joined the Kerry support campaign. (Hardly an unbiased source)

The Guardian how convenient to leave out a few little details.

I don't doubt the 'predictions' one bit..although I might have a few questions as to their sources.
