I fork out for anti-virus software after being hit a couple of times (I'm a sucker for opening attachments) and nothing! Not one of those lanky, pale spotty arsed twats writes a virus since. If I pay for for anti-virus software I expect new viruses godamit!
Oh, the virus authors continue their work apace. Haven't heard of Finaldo (Nov.6), Bici (Nov.5) , Cerin (Oct.29), Nimda.E (Oct.29), Klez (Oct.25) or ElKern (Oct.25)? And ol' SirCam is still quite in evidence. Noticed lately that server logs of one of my sites shows daily hammering by strange HTTP requests like "%WINNT%\%SYSTEM%\blah-blah\etc.exe" (too bad for SirCam it's a Unix/Apache server). Tip for avoiding 90+% of email attachment risk: ditch Outlook/Outlook Express. It's not so much an email client as it is a friendly virus testbed.
yeah, emetic is right, ditch outlook express. i never received virii on it, but the stats prove its a risk.

Well I aint heard of finaldo, all the others yes, but I haven't recieved any. I used to get about 10 a week, I guess they just don't make 'em like they used to. That Bici is a waste of fucking time anyway, only targets networks with certain paths available - with one corporate network being targeted. So I guess I'm safe from that. And SirCam is far too easy to avoid. Anyone who opens an attachment with two file extentions deserves all the crap they're gonna get.

(i also recently found out on-track fix-it utilities has a virus scanner that scans my mail.. it was the one that caught pinky's virus before it went thru norton AV)
