Anybody got a link to a malware removal program thats free? I got some serious problems with IE (constant pop-ups). Anyone send me a link?
I tired using this program. it scanned my pc... told me I had over 300 detections... then asked for registration and money to get rid of the infections. Scam.... I need something that will REMOVE it for free.
I use Spybot S&D and Ad-aware. I usually run them a couple of times each, to make sure I got em all (after rebootin). I also found one that I had to run in safe mode off the local HDD. It was something like 'smitfaud' it was crap, but on someone else's PC, they had been using bear share or something and picked it up.
There is a really shitty Rogue virus going around. I got Antivirus 2008 and couldn't get the shit off so I had to reinstall Windows. I swear I got it at drugs.com. I was reading about some drug's side effects and it popped up. I used task manager to end the program (I didn't trust their "x" to close it) and it still fucked my computer. It would redirect me to different websites, took away my ability to change my background and turned off system restore. Then my parents computer got another version of it called Antivirus 360. I reformat/reinstalled Windows on their computer too. The bad thing about the Antivirus rogue is that it will not allow you to run anti-virus software. I couldn't run anything on either computer after I got it. I really wish death on those people for the time they took away from my life.
Yep, you would think that if they were that smart they would put there ideas to good use and get paid for it. Sometimes with those viruses I will go into safe mode and disable everything, then delete stuff that doesnt belong. Go through the registry and hack it out to. After a while though it is just best to wipe it out and start over.
Yeah, I'm not that advanced. I did do that once. I used hijack this and killbox and went through a bunch of rigamarole. I always turn off system restore when I delete something bad so it doesn't rename it's self upon start up. I've never used system restore to fix anything. I know people who do it and I don't think it really "fixes" the issue when it comes to viruses.
Its supposed to take a 'snapshot' of the system and let you revert back in case of a blunder. They recommend using it before installing software, but who actually wants to install spyware? It doesnt usually ask when it installs anyway. Unless you are my dad and you actually sign up for it... 'but it said I was infected, and needed to download the patch'....ha ha ha. Geez.
