In a recent interview with Zak Penn (Screenplay for Hulk2 ) he had this to say about it...

"It’s definitely not a remake. We’re not going to tell the origin story of the Hulk. Reboot? It’s harder to say. I think the tone will shift. We all loved the action [in the first one], and I like a lot of the creature stuff and I liked the performances in the movie. What I didn’t like was the father/son stuff. Honestly I didn’t like the dogs.

I felt – weirdly since I get so much shit for fucking with the continuity on X-Men 3, which not all of which was my doing but some of which is – I feel like on the Hulk that was one which didn’t need to be revamped. I didn’t like that the Hulk was something his dad injected into him as opposed to him being a repressed guy with all this rage to unleash.

The other thing is that there’s something about the tone of the TV show – despite the fans’ insistence on going with ‘Hulk smash’ and all that stuff- there’s something about the man on the run with a dark secret, Jekyll and Hyde, theme that we could do more with. There wasn’t much of that in the Hulk movie. I can’t think of one scene where he was trying to solve his problem while keeping it a secret from anyone. To me that’s essential to the Hulk. That’s what’s great about the Bruce Jones run [in the comics]. When I read that, I thought, ‘This is a Hulk movie.’ You know, with the laptop and Mr. Blue. We’re using all that stuff. I think it uses the tone of the TV show but keeps the scope as big as you want with a Hulk movie. The problem with the TV show is that you don’t want a guy running around in green paint knocking walls over. It’s a matter of combing that tone with a bigger scope, and that’s what we’re doing. So I don’t know what to call that. I felt like we should keep as much continuity as we can while changing the tone. That’s my personal preference."

All I want to see is HULK SMASH! Perhaps this will get Lomo excited, after all Lomo did once say that Hulk was his nigger....

The Hulk's always been my nigga... But honestly, as much as I love the 'traditional' Hulk, I would love to see a movie with 'Mr. Fixit' or the third incarnation of the Hulk. Maybe I need a certain bit of dialog to go with the action, or maybe my fascination with both these versions are a manifestation of my subconcious foundation that programs me to be the bitter, sarcastic, pissed-off asshole that I am in real life - but with bigger biceps.

It's been more than a decade since I've actively read comic books, so I've no idea where the Hulk comic has the character, in fact - I thought I spoke with someone once that told me that 'Betty' died?

One of those things that I've not thought of in years, and don't want to pick up because the last thing I need is something new (or renewed) to collect.

BTW, Schmed - Marvel comics from around the era that they had 5 different hologram covers on the Spiderman comics - got a bit of 'em, what should I do with them? I'll probably never read 'em, and I have a good 5-10 copies of each first edition hologram cover of the afforementioned spidey comix...

(Still regret trading my Incredible Hulk # 180? -first appearance of Wolverine- for a Sega Genesis, 2 controllers, 2 games, and an NES *Back in the day*) - I think it was only worth $80 back then, no idea what it'd be now (more than that goddamn genesis, though)...

THe Spidey Holograms?! Save one of each to read and throw the others away. Unfortunatly thaty are utterly worhtless. In fact storys are horrible, they printed way to many of them and they arn't worth the paper they are printed on. Sucks but its true. Wasn't onr of the storys about a fat wanna be KingPin crime boss named "The Slug". I think he suffocates someone in the folds of his belly in it.

About Hulk #180, just be glad it wasn't Hulk #181. Hulk #180 is the first appearnece of Wolvie, but he only appears on the last panel of the last page. Hulk #181 is the gem. That has sold for right around $1500 graded in mint.

Louis Leterrier has just taken over the reins of Hulk 2 (as of now billed as "The Incredible Hulk") from Ang Lee.

Here is some background info on him.
