Maybe someone could explain the different characteristic. It seems we live in a day and time that people care a great deal about appearing to be non-establishment, independent minded, dangerous and on the edge. But they seem to be so very much the opposite. They want security, safety, no danger, don't ask don't tell, make no waves, do what they are told to do, don't go against the grain lives.

Here we have two grown men likely mentally ill trashing about on a jetliner like a child throwing a temper tantrum over a mile from the ground. And it takes someone from the older generation to have courage to do what needs to be done. Personally I think its the culture we live in. Kids these days are told by every employer "Rule # 1: If someone is aggressive and assaults you do not be a hero be a pansy a panty waste pathetic wimp instead" They teach in schools the same crap. You know how about a little attitude you wimps it's just a freaking dime a dozen Burger King Job if someone is an ass be a man and shove that burger down their throat. Then go back to your duties. If the manager fires you give him a piece of your mind. If the punk was some hooligan and takes revenge by stealing the 800.00 stereo out of your 500.00 car. Fuck it you stood up for yourself just think of a better way to get even. But live with a clear conscience confident that regardless of what the establishment thinks you do what is right and stand up for yourself.

I give you exhibit A: you pathetic weak wishy washy punks.

I've taught in the public schools.

Once, I had a 5th grade class where this one little scrawny punk (not that I am some muscleman, you unnerstand) was terrorizing the class. Much bigger, athletic boys would just ignore him...they were sick and tired of his disrupting their learning on a constant basis.

I took a few of these guys aside, asked them what they thought of the situation...these were all good students....they didn't care for it. I told them there is a way to take care of it. I remember kids like this, kids who were disrespectful of the teacher when I was a kid. I didn't come right out and say it, but c'mon.

They had no clue in hell what I was talking about.

I couldn't just say "catch the litte bastard after school and kick the sh** out of him."

Back in my day, nobody had to tell us how to handle this.

Today, with most boys being raised by wymyn and their rotating "uncles" and the schools filling them with Ritalin everytime they as much as burp aloud, and doing all this "conflict resolution" BS....there are two ways boys handle conflict: they "avert their eyes," as they are taught by their mothers and mostly-female-feminist teachers, and they explode with too MUCH violence.

I agree that bullying is something that needs to be stopped, but boys sometimes just need to duke it out.

Good for the former cop and former Marine. I'd like to think I'd throw my skinny backside into the struggle...but then, I'd just be getting in the way.

Sounds like the guy was a schizophrenic. Schizophrenics have been around forever. If all he was doing is talking it may have been best to leave him alone. I don't know. I would have had to been there to pass judgement on anyone.
