Did you get a chance to see Hitch hikers guide yet? I'm a big fan of the books and overall I liked the movie. They left some parts out but it was a good movie. Do you think there will be another one as I'm sure the movie did much better England :?:

Comments like this prompted me to ignore the movie entirely. What I wonder is ifpeople who didn't read the books thought it was a quality movie.

I've read the Hitchikers books at least 15 times, Douglas is definitly my favorite author. That movie was fucking horrid, thee worst. Didn't live up to the books and was rarely funny.

The characters were definitely not what I imagined them to look like. Especially Ford and Marvin. The way the book was written kind of makes it difficult to make the movie live up to. So I was pretty pleased with the movie. I would love to see them make restaurant at the end of the universe because that was my favorite of all the books. But come on Schmed at least you can admit it didn’t seem like a B movie that was good enough for me. 8)

I really loved the old BBC series of the Hitchikers, in fact the original Marvin was in the Galactic DMV line. I just reall hated the recent movie of it, it had very little to do with the actual book even.

It really should have been directed by Peter Jackson.

Do you think real hardcore Hitchhikers fans bitch about how the books weren't as good as the radio series?

Now that is hardcore. I actually have the Radio series on vinyl. And the BBC series on VHS. And while I'm bragging, I have the leatherbound edition of the "More Than Complete HHG" before Mostly Harmless was released (and subsequently the Mostly Harmless hardcover on the bookshelf right next to it).

Shwew, I gotta go shower this geek off me....

    Ah ... geek humour.

And in a Hitchhiker's Guide thread. The perfect place for it, really.
