Smurf sent me this. I was offended at first, but after looking at it carefully, I think he has a point.

I put everyone's name in the "tell a friend" box at the end. You don't have to thank me.

I'm just curious, but what specifically offended you? Seems to me like a fairly concise history of the origins of Halloween, most of which I've read elsewhere prior to this link (aside from the whole 'accept Jesus' message at the end)... Am I missing something here?

I was just trying to be funny Lomo. Smurf did not really send it , and I am not offendable. I actually thought the history was pretty accurate and the site well done. The plug for Jesus at the end is fine with me, although I think it is fairly ineffective.

My personal view of Halloween is that it glorifies and glamorizes death and darkness. I don't care for it for that reason.

The short version for me is this: the kids get to dress up and get candy. Children know more about Santa and the Easter bunny than they do Christ. They get out of school for MLK's birthday but don't know anything about him. Origins, be they good or evil, are dissolved into the crass commercialization created to sell more crap. It doesn't matter what started it, Hallmark will make a card for it and Government employees will eventually stop work for it. My kids will "trick or treat" tonight for candy. And yes, we will slay a goat in the yard and burn a priest in effigy upon a pig's blood pentagram, but it's all in good fun and it's for the kids.
