It's more in the keyboard/wrist pad. It probably needs to be replaced. I have been using these Dells for a while and they are pretty prone to wearing out if someone fat wrist the keyboard. Someone puts too much pressure near the touchpad and boom, you got the wandering cursor. I got this one as a hand me down when I took the job, 2 other blokes had it prior to me, so there is no telling what they did to it.
I have an HP and I used a wireless mouse until I broke it and now I use a usb optical with a cord and my Stephen King's "Shining" novel as my mouse pad. I never use my touch pad but it works when I need it. You gotta preserve that shit!
I dont know if the chick that had the laptop before me did the porn thing, but I am pretty sure the IT guy before her did. I used a lot of sanitary wipes on this thing before I felt comfortable using it undocked.....
