I fundamentaly agree with what you say except for that last part.
A common thing to say for a conservative/libertarian is that liberals are power thirsty. I think we can all agree that power corrupts; no matter who's in charge. But take it from a voter's perspective. Let's say that I'm a blue collar working 50hrs/week, not rich but not poor either ($30,000 to 40,000/yearly). I vote liberal for their environmental policies and to lower the costs of medicaid. How in that sense is a liberal power hungry? The ones in power might be, but to "regular Joe" voting liberal for these 2 main issues, that power means nothing. I think that alot of liberals are trying to do what they feel is right. Not necessarily out of greed or malice.

I understand that you disagree with liberal policies, but sometimes I have the impression that conservatives think that liberals are all communists in disguise waiting to have an opportunity to take over the world. That word has been thrown around alot lately, communism. But I don't think it's that real of a threat. It's true there are small cells trying to get a vote or two, but like I explained in another post: they only got 50 votes nationwide in Canada, and we are what you (conservatives) might call socialists. It's important to make a distinction between the two.

Sweden was socialistic during the URSS reign of terror and they never converted to the almighty red. I don't think that socializing healthcare means that your whole country will start erecting statues of Stallin. Canada helped the US during the cold war by providing intelligence and letting you guys use our airspace and such, and the whole time we had a national healthcare.

I've always disliked the US media for that reason. Lots of partisanship trying to scare everybody else into agreeing with 'em. Conservatives say that with national healthcare we might as well call ourselves North-Korea2, and liberals say that without it we all die. Either way it's not true. That's just my opinion.

And on balance you opinion is correct there are parts I agree and parts I have a lot less confidence in. My issue is not with that my peeve is with the systematic way the ones in power deceive those "blue collar" workers. You speak of the environmental issues. The liberal establishment and the media try to paint the Conservatives as anti environmental. That is just simply not fair and certainly not true.

As the liberals are in control just sit back and watch the economy as well as the environment both go to the dumps while the lawmakers tout yet more legislation that they are working on to alleviate the problem if only they can make it another cycle. Environmental issues are used to extort another vote from people who care. But the problems are never fixed they still need that same carrot out there. The proverbial delemia that we all face, Bambi and all the trees and cute little bunnies will perish if the Conservatives are allowed into power.

I encourage you to watch the video. "Chains you can believe in"

And ask yourself what good it does for the environmental postition to be the boy crying wolf all the time?

I agree, raising false concern certainly strengthens the probability that no one will care when there is a need to really pay attention. I believe in a more tactful approach towards environmental issues. I recycle, I compost, and I bought those reusable cloth bags for groceries. It's not much but it's something. A sensitivity campaign is always more effective than flat out forcing people to do things. At my local grocery store they have a goal to reduce plastic bag consumption by 75%, I saw the signs and I thought it was cool, hence the reusable cloth bags.

Most people are willing to put in a little effort, it's really not that bad. The only peeve I have is when business owners clearly break environmental laws and get away with it. I'm not a nut job like PETA or Greenpeace but I care enough to feel a little angry at some companies. I know you don't believe in government regulations but I can't help but feel that some rules are needed, otherwise it's chaos. Telling the forestry industry to plant trees as they cut some down only makes sense to me, and it's good business too. You want to have something to cut down if your industry depends on it, it would be pretty dumb to run out.

I don't know, I'm fifty-fifty on that one. I don't like it when the liberals twist the truth to win votes, and I don't like it when people don't give a shit either. After all we're all stuck here, might as well keep it clean a bit.

Look at Tyson food products profits and company growth on a time line. Don Tyson financed Bill Clintons political ambitions and as payoff he got to do whatever he wanted in the meatpacking industry unfazed by regulations and hiring illegal workers sans any immigrations checks. Meanwhile his competitors were pounded to systematically submission by government regulators and beaten till they were weak enough to be bought out by Don Tyson.

The Car dealers who supported Republicans were forced out of business by Obama while the ones who contributed to Obama got to reap the benefits or the rewards.

Meanwhile unprofitable UAW run car manufacturers are subsidized by my tax dollars. They pay money to whose campaign?

If you want to get mad at businesses there is plenty to be mad at that is for sure.

You want clean environment? Then stop redistributing tax dollars paid by citizens to shit ass social programs and instead do something useful like pick up people appliances from the front curb of their house. I guarantee you make it easier to get rid of a washing machine by rolling it to the front curb of your house on the first Tuesday of the month than finding a remote creek somewhere and guess what happens? 110% reduction in washing machines being dumped in a river.

Well thank god for that its amazing isn't it that some big fat cat bureaucrat in America can walk away from something like that Scott-free? I think it is a crime.

Ask yourself HONESTLY if Bush or Sarah Palin were involved under all the same circumstances would the outcome be different?

And when the Canadian Govt. settled then you settled it was your tax dollars. Please accept my apologies Bill Clinton was a moron who brings shame to our country.

All of this reminds me of a passage in an old Smashing Pumpkins song:
"In spite of my rage I'm still just a rat in a cage."
In the end all we manage to do is get angry and nothing ever gets done.
Look at us, just two web bloggers talking like we hold the truth... lol

No need to apologize, it's not like you were involved in any way. Even though it's been a while since, I think he still gets heckled we he comes up here. We don't forget very easily when a single man kills about 1,500 people.

As stereotypical and presumptuous as you are, keep with that mindset. If I gave two shits about you or your well-being, I'd try to correct your ascertainment.

You plaster your inexperience upon the wall in such a shameless manner that I debate on whether or not to point out your ignorance. Have fun flaming my post, as I likely won't see your pathetic, miserable, content-lacking contributions for at least a few months - if even that.

Somewhere there is a bottle of bleach with your name on it, and the inscription: "for your mouth only." Heed it.
