I've been bumping this theory around in my head for about a week now and I want some feedback. Our planet has went thru many cycles and periods. Almost all of them have ended with the extinction of the most dominant species on the planet with another coming out of the muck to take over.

It's no big secret that the earth is hitting a warming cycle right now. It's not clear if it's global warming or a natural phenomena. Myself I been having a hard time coming to terms that in 100 or so odd years that we have caused unreversable damage to the planet. It's kind of pompous thinking when you really think about it.

Now I downloaded a special that was on History last night a week ago on Methane. Most of it I wrote off but 2 parts stuck out. They have traced a warming period on the earth to a methane release that may have jump started evolution. They believed a earthquake in the ocean caused a slow release of methane into the earths atmosphere causing the temp on the planet to rise. Now this on it's own doesn't mean much until...

The recent realization that more of the Arctic Ice Shelf has melted in the last 50 years of record keeping on it. For 50 years the Arctic Ice Shelf has been between 7.5 Mil Sq Kilos to 8.5 Mil Kilos. From 2005 to today the Arctic Ice Shelf is at 4.5 Mil Sq Kilos that's a loss between 3 or 4 mil sq kilos of ice mass. Numbers do not lie this is solid proof of the earth warming up, But why? Well lets go back to Methane and the last warming period in the earth history. It was caused by an deep earthquake in the ocean an the release of methane from the ocean floor. Well when has something like this happen recently? 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake that caused the Tsunami. This was in 2004. so it would explain why we might be in a warming cycle if the earthquake in fact release methane from the ocean floor into the atmosphere and why we have lost that much ice from 2005 til now. It would explain the unstable hurricanes and a lot of other things going on. On a lighter note the Northern Passage is now open and we been wanting that since the 1500s.

Now I have no doubt in my mind the human race is now on it's way off the planet one way or another. The funny part is I believe we have built our replacement. Machines. It's the only logical step forward if you believe in evolution. We're at a point were Machines will be operating at or past what the human brain functions at. Humans won't vanish for another 5000 years or more I hope. But by this time I feel Machines will be self aware and maybe Humans will be integrated into machines. If you look at it logically this is the only answer to survive whatever may happen as far as the climate and everything else.

I just feel we will either die out due to a mass Extinction like everything else in the history of the earth and the next logical step would be machines controlling the earth.

The obvious is that man has an effect on his environment. Pompous is the idea that we can affect it to any real measure on a large scale.

I commented on the geothermal heating of the oceans caused by underwater earthquakes long ago and the subsequent massive release of carbon dioxide.

Water is a carbon dioxide sponge when it heats it releases CO2 like squeezing the sponge. When you release pressure on the sponge it absorbs it back in.

In other words there is a simple formula you can rely on that shows an inverse proportion to ocean temperatures and the saturation point of carbon dioxide.

Or was it carbon monoxide? Do a little research you can find it.

I believe that the earth is warming weather we like it or not. We have proof that other planets are warming also and sufficient evidence that the reason is increased solar energy.

Furthermore as in my other thread regarding China's industrialization Chinas emission levels of so called greenhouse gasses is multiplying at a rapid rate much faster than the rest of the worlds control measures.

The human race will survive to live in the hell it creates for itself.

The sun is growing, and thats a known fact.
Which causes more heat. and more heat to reach the earth.
    and making the earth hotter.
its been 62 million years since the dinosaurs went extinct.
and about every 60 million years theres an extiction, so we are over due

Yep the heat is the sun, possibly going nova, maybe just a random surge, who knows, its a star after all.

Also we've had periods of extreme temperature many times before; like the thames river in london frozen over sometime during the victorian period.

Conversely it was also recored to be much hotter in the past in some times, during the middle ages and there were even vineyards in britain during the roman times, we dont have the weather for it now.

Why do you think the elites want to kill us, we're not needed anymore.

The whole global warming topic is being based on the earths history and different cycles of warming and cooling ,yet at no time in earths history has there been 5,000,000,000 people on it using carbon based fuels at breakneck speed and releasing god knows what else in to the atmosphere. We still have global events happening today as throughout history that influence our climate ,but I think that the added pressure of man is definitely having a much more rapid effect on our planet than any other time in our existence.
Will we become extinct? I hope not, but that is up to us,noone else but us is going to change our way of using the planet .

Ah, but if you look at the science, the studies and wotnot, it shows that there is very little, if no, correlation between man and global temperature increase.

We are cleaner now than we were during the industrial revolution.

Then you are a victim of misleading information.

I have lived near or visited the Smoky Mountains all my life. If you go into the state park and go too the visitors center you will see displays about how carbon emissions along the east coast have created a manmade blue haze in the mountains. These people love their nature as so do I. But that's no reason to lie.

The Indians had a name for the mountains before the settlers ever came it was called ........drum roll please....... Tada! "Smoky Mountains"

Look Cow flatulence emits more greenhouse gasses than cars.

I say man is creating a nominal impact. To deny it would be insane. To fall for the propaganda spin is however reckless.

I say let's implement Shiera law like punishment for people who litter. Or poison the environment the loss of an appendage. Say lose a thumb for a beer can out the window (picture the guy trying to drink a tallboy with no thumb) or a McDonalds bag. A foot or a hand for a car battery thrown in the creek. For something on a larger scale one could lose ones head.

How about this a corporation caught dumping some toxic waste into a river. Line up the board members and randomly have them draw straws to see who bets beheaded and the rest watch.

But lets be just as stern in people who promote junk science. ;) I get tired of seeing Al Gores fat little face anyways.

Yes we are cleaner now but the science that looks at our climates history does not have millions of cars, powerplants, airplanes, atvs, lawnmowers and etc. to compare data against .To say this has little impact on todays climate just doesn't make sense when there is nothing in the earths past to compare with todays society.Ancient man didn't burn fossil fuels at todays rate or put the chemical emissions into the atmosphere that we do now, and I have to believe that it is definitely having a negative impact and speeding up a natural process.
Winters where I'm from have definitely changed from just 20 years ago and in the grand scheme of the worlds long history I think climate changes don't occur this fast.

Was hotter in the 30s and then again in the 1800s

In between the 30s and no we had a little cooling phase where the scientist were predicting the next ice age would be hastened in by man mage global emissions blocking the suns needed heat.

Can't you just feel it though? I mean, I don't need a scientist to tell me that the world is fucked.

I'm all for machines. Machines are great. They don't have the human element that gets in the way. Without feelings, there will be no greed, which is what ultimately has destroyed the earth.

There is a lot of good in the human race, but there is also a lot of vanity and greed and overall fuckedupness. This is why I like animals so much. :)

Oh, and what about the earth's fresh water supply? It's dwindling because enough people aren't having abortions (joke). Seriously though, we need to calm down with the population levels.

I just hope that a HUGE comet kills us all one day and no one will know what hit us. A meteor you can see coming, but that's not always the case with a comet. BAM! I just hope that if it happens soon, I'm not doing something that I hate like pumping gas.

But what of the temptation to be programmed by greedy men to do evil things? Its looking highly likely that will be the case either way, as only people in power will control any form of machine.

It really doesn't matter. People with money will always win.
