When I go to fuly.com, I just get a blank directory set up by some Chinese guy.

However, when I go to FUGLY.com...the frontpage comes up fine.

An entry in your host file like : 208.70.76.153 www.fugly.com

I think that would essentially make any www.fugly.com entries simply resolve to 208.70.76.153 I think if I remember correctly and over ride your DNS servers name resolution.

A theory at least I could easially test by simply putting the entry into my file. But I'm going to bed instead. Try looking at least even if its a long shot. Either way it has something to do with name resolution on your end. Another good candidate for hijackthis and look for things like url hook entries. I think those are the ones but it should be obvious when you see that web address name.

So something is changing either at the dns server or elsewhere question need answered

    Who is the isp

What is the dns server ip

What is your external wan ip

if you use the ip address instead of the url is it different?

If you traceroute you to fugly.com is it different then you to 8.2.119.142?

When did the problem begin and what changed at the time?

Why do you not have a PM on your fugly profile? (don't post your external ip and all that for the WWW)

Most of it is pretty cool except having to learn gay ass Mac and Linux stuff and mind numbing subnet schemes that give me a headache. I was thinking of going CCNA route but I'm so scared.

Keep in mind that LINIX is UNIX based, so it's tolerable. Mac is dumb to network. everything else on the mac is set to retard mode, so why not the networking?

Heh I'll be honest with you I trash both of them just cause ... well I'm a non-conformist by nature and since every time networking comes up in a conversation someone crawls out of the wood-work to validate themselves as some sort of 133t (or whatever ::) ) hacker prodigy child by trashing MS like its some government conspiracy. I'm just compelled to be their counter ego. ;D

I keep saying I want to build a cheap little box with a few nics and install linux and play around with using it as a firewall, domain server all that trash. It could be fun and ahella lot cheaper.

Don't tell anyone I said it though. As for MACs they belong in France with all the other artsy fartsy crowd.

If you have a generic enough box, fedora core should install pretty easy, a 400mhz dell desktop has pretty generic equipment and will run pretty good with 256MB of Ram with Fedora.

    Tux Racer

    Its not too bad...

If you just want to mess around with redhat, just down load the VMPlayer from VMware.com and download some of the free appliances.

I can set you up where you can install an XP OS on it too, but thats another post.

That is not the IP of Fugly.com. Why do you want the site to resolve to that IP. If you experience problems with the site redirecting, EMAIL ME, please.

After looking a bit deeper I can see how I was misunderstood. BTW the referenced IP in the first quote resolves to the URL that Grim was complaining about being redirected to. Or at least did at that specific time. The issue here is we are talking about URL addresses and my suspicion being that the issue is with the DNS server Grim is using hence the suggestion of running a trace route on the URL then the IP and look for a difference. When you go to any location via IP address or if on any similar network that uses a domain name addressing scheme like your network at work simply means it is routed through the DNS server to simply find out what the real address is the IP address anytime there is an address resolution problem it is logical to simply bypass the DNS and see what happens.

Another quick check to avoid the entire BS is to use a different computer on the same LAN (his home connection) and see what happens.

If this is at his work then this is really simple check a few different Computers on the same subnet and see what happens.

Weather it is isolated to one pc or not after comparing the TCP/IP configuration looking for some consistency then look at your IE LAN settings, is there a proxy server involved?

Is anyone else having this or a similar problem?

Does anyone get redirected to a different page when they go to Fugly.com or when they go to Fuglyforums.com?

Does anyone ever get redirected to a different site when they follow a link from Google or any other page to Fugly.com?

If not, then this must be a problem on Grim's computer alone.

Grim, if you want, I will try and help you fix it without all the techno mumbo jumbo. PM or email me if you want to talk about it.

If anyone EVER gets redirected to a different page when visiting any page on this site or on Fugly.com, PLEASE contact me RIGHT AWAY. Don't post the problem in here and expect that it will get fixed.

I checked everything on my end also I just put a clean install of windows 64 on my laptop and had no problems on the first 2 visits so I was believing it was my desktop and i missed something.

But last night I got a redirect on my laptop to that exact same site when i clicked videos.
