Finally broke down last week and bought a DS (thankfully) - ended up going with the redesigned DS Lite, apparently it has a brighter screen and isn't made from leftover SP parts.

Love the thing, it even reminds me of carrying around those nifty little 'Game and Watch' portables back in the early 80's.

But this is not what I came here to discuss.

New Super Mario Bros. is the best fucking 2-D game I've played in ages. Not since Castlevania SOTN have I been this enthusiastic about a game. And the best part of it is, I can play it at work. If something comes up, just flip the thing closed and it 'sleeps' until you're ready to play again - no load times, no catching up, it's like it was on the whole time (but not using up the battery).

This is reason enough to go out and buy a DS Lite.

This game, I swear... It's not like they re-made SMB with better graphics... it's like the first TRUE sequel to the game ever made (except the Japanese version of SMB2, which never came out over here until 'All-Stars' was released). And with so many years of technology to work with between the two, it's just downright amazing. This game is just not to be believed. Go out and buy it now.

As for me, I was going to type a lot more, but fuck this thread - I'm going back to my game, dammit... ;)

That game does look dope as hell, it's getting good reviews too.

I was gonna get a PSP, should I get a DS instead Lomo?

    I have both, and here's my $0.02...

I bought the PSP about a year prior to buying my DS, and I think that I've already played my DS more than my PSP games...

Here's the catch, though - I have an older PSP, with the first revision of the operating system software on it. I added emulators to my memory card, and as a result, I can play every SNES, NES, Genesis rom right on my PSP. Problem - when I go out to buy a new game, the game is going to force my hardware to 'upgrade' - which will make the PSP stop playing all my old games. This is why I haven't bought any new PSP games lately. This also sucks because I'm quite anxious to play the new Ghouls n' Ghosts game that's coming out late this summer.

Don't even consider buying a PSP if you want to buy UMD movies for it - the system does have an excellent screen, and the movies look top-knotch - but honestly, who the fuck pays $15-20 for a movie that they can only watch on a 4" screen?

I guess I'm a bit biased because of Sony's attitude of "We don't want you to run emulators on our machine" - but still, all things considered, I still would end up playing my DS more than the PSP. Plus, it's a hell of a lot cheaper. (And if you do end up getting one, make sure to get the 'lite' version - it's smaller, and the screen is so much brighter than the original version.)

Sounds good to me, I would rather play the new Metroid or Mario bros. than a rehashed version of GTA anyways.

    And it's way cheaper.

    Grassy ass.

Hey GAS - you can pick up that 'Liberty City Stories' GTA game now for PS2 - and it's only $20 brand new.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the only Metroid movie out for the DS, right?

I hadn't seen or heard anything about it since the first DS came out...
