I was sipping on a Coke and I noticed that the sweepstakes offer on the can expired in 2005.

Things in cans keep for remarkably long times, its only when air gets at it that it becomes dangerous. A lot of canned Sell by/eat by dates are myths to keep you buying more.

As long as it was fizzy, tasted fine and you arnt shitting blood then you should be ok.

Yeah, it had fizz, but I think I may have turned green when I saw that. I didn't eat any candy for fear that it was from the 70's.

I'm pretty sure Reese's has changed their packaging since....

You cant beat that wholesome goodness from back in the day. When we were cleaning out the house we bought we found a can of Campbells Tomatos, we shook the can (unopened can) and it sounded like we were shaking an empty spray paint can (with just the little ball bearing inside) it had expired in the 90s, but I guess they wanted the sun dried flavor! YUM!

    I'm weird about expiration dates.

I took a big drink of lemonade from the vending machine at work one day and it tasted like the smell of Windex, so I look at the cap and it was over a year expired! The theory from the vending co. was that it was the display that had fallen into the bin. You know, the display... the bottle with no refridgeration and under a light? It was terrible. It even smelled terrible.

I've had expired MRE's, and shit, my dad remembers eating rations in Vietnam that were originally packaged for WW2.

I'm still waiting another decade or two to drink the two cans of Crystal Pepsi I found in my dresser a year or two ago.

they are all faggy, and Gourmet now, but I net you the original MRE's have like a 30 year shelf life. Like the "ham slice" or "tuna noodle" ones.

wow, still have an 11 year shelf life

heh this site has the 2008 menu http://www.mreinfo.com/us/mre/menu-xxviii-2008.html , I don't even eat that fucking good

Yeah I was gonna say the military eat better than me too, pity they don't live as long.

Party true. MREs are fortified so that you can sustain one just 1 a day if need be but also because of the higher tempo of combat operations. 1st gen MREs were awful: dehydrated meat patties and nasty beans. They've come a long way now. However, I spend 10 1/2 months in Kuwait and ate only one. Contract meals are the way to go.
