Dick Armey is an outspoken critic of the stimulus bill; he appeared many times on television and claims to be an expert on the issue. When questionned by Bill Moyers about certain aspects of the bill; something interesting came up. Dick Armey hasn't even read the bill!

Another thing to note is that Freedom Works (the political organization of which Dick Armey is the head) platformed on the fact that democrats hadn't read the bill. They went to town hall meetings asking democratic leaders if they had read the bill.

    Ironic to say the least.

And they indeed did not read the bill and that is the point.

The extreme radical left wing news pundit thought he was making a point and he was only preaching to the choir when he tried to setup Dick Armey.

The retards out their will think this is big they are to stupid to see that the Democrats voted on a bill they did not read and Dick Armey voted against a bill he did not read. The idoits are the Democrats not Dick.

This is the kind of reporting that works on a dumbed down audience.

The healthcare bill is somewhere close to 2500 pages and they gave 10 hours for the Republicans to review before debating its passage. Ever read a 500 page book in one day?

Ever read 500 pages of legal jargon in one day?

Ok then how about five times that?

Dick Armey didn't vote on anything, he left office in 2003. What he was in fact doing was commenting on a bill in front of a comittee as an expert. He repeatedly commented on the bill and trashed it for lack of a better word. I think it's a little presomptuous to comment on something without having read it.
By the way this was about the stimulus bill and both parties had plenty of time to look at it and review it. I don't know where you're getting that 10hr time limit. Anyway, it passed in both houses.

How many Republicans and how many Democrats voted?

    What was the tally?

    Speaking of the "HealthCare bill"

Why does it need to be 2500 pages long?

What proposals or "ideas" by the Republicans were allowed to be proposed or voted upon?

Tally for stimulus bill was 246-183. All republicans voted no.
The health bill will be open for debate after the thanksgiving recess. To avoid a filibuster, changes will probably be made to gain favor from republicans. That's all I could find on the matter.

I read 80 pages of the healtcare bill, the original, it is ass backwards at best. There is so much legal jargon in it that you could make it fit, or not fit, to any situation that could possibly arise. If they were honest, and not politicians, they could make a health bill four or five pages long.

If you work a job and cant get healthcare - the government option should be to allow 'free' healthcare to these individuals at 'teaching' hospitals (most of them). Let future doctors diagnose them, have a senior doctor review, and move on.

If you work for a company the size of WalMart that purposefully limits the amount of hours an employee works, just to not pay healtchare, tax them, and make them pay for the 'public option'.

If you cant afford the options provided by your employer, then you can use the public option.

There, I did it in 3 very short and poorly worded paragraphs.

There is so much more to it than that. Your ideas are very good, but these important changes can't be summed up in a few paragraphs. Too many opportunities for people to slip through the cracks or abuse the system. That's why it's so lengthy and full of legal jargon. It's not the only bill written that way either, all bills are written in legal jargon but it's the first time anyone ever complained about it. Maybe they should release a civilian version for public reading? Keep the real one in the floor for debate and make an english friendly one?
