Last Tuesday, my wife had a colonoscopy that revealed a cancer. She had a CT scan yesterday and we met with the surgeon and oncologist regarding her upcoming surgery to remove the cancer. So far, things look good as far as the cancer being contained in the colon but she will have to have a section of her colon removed and resectioned. She will have an endoscopic ultra-sound Monday morning (Oct 29) and a barium enema x-ray that afternoon with follow-on laproscopic colectomy Tuesday to take it out. So far so good but tests after the surgery will determine whether there is a need for post-operative chemotherapy if the cancer has spread to her lymph nodes. We have no reason to suspect it has and are remaining positive.

She is only 39. I know she and I are years beyond most of your ages but if you have a family history of this or know anyone that does, do not ignore the early signs. Do some research. I've learned that this is far more prevalent than I ever suspected.
