I'm throwing my boyfriend out and with it goes my free cable/internet.

So, I'm thinking about getting DSL through Verizon and was wondering if anyone is currently using it or has used and it and what they think of it.

I am also thinking of doing the Dish Network thing and need some opinions on that also.

    Anyone use the above?

dsl is slow compared to cable. i havent had verison, but they offer it around here and also have city wide wireless broadband. i had Southwestern Bell and it was slower than what it should have been.
havent ever used satilite but just like satilite tv it goes out in foul weather.

so what are the prices for broadband around you Nauseous?

Just make sure they haven't over-sold their lines. That can be a major problem for DSL users. I have a friend who would get disconnected for five minutes at a time, which isn't too big of a deal unless you're gaming or trying to download something :?

I had DSL years ago and liked it. I had it through bellsouth and didn't have any problems.

I refuse to buy from the cable company. I'm not sure of the exact cost, but they sucker you into their premium service for the real "savings".

Basically, if you want cable w/some movie channels and internet, you're looking at over 100 bucks.

And this cable connection constantly fucks up. I have to run ipconfig like 20 times a day. Maybe it's the PC, but I hear a lot of people at work omplain about their internet also...

I just spliced my comcast cable cord, got a couple of adapters and voila! I have a high speed internet connection without two separate bills.

(although I live on an Island and use their service, so perhaps this isn't feasible in the "real world")

Off topic, is anyone into Billie Holiday? I adore her- she, to me, is quite simply, the best; I'm listening to her right now and I'm in a stupor, hehehe.

well i use RoadRunner cable and it hasent fucked up yet, ive had it for almost a year now. the dsl we did have periodically went off for hours even weeks at a time. we would call in and get the tried an true "we are working on it", like it matter to me if the were working on it or not. point being it was still down. it was slow too. i had the dsl feed split between 3 computers with a wireless router and you could get tops 50kbs on each, with cable i get anywhere from 300kbs and 700kbs depending on site traffic. same sites too. i guess its who your dealing with and what kinda customer support they have.
