I know that a lot of you are into torrents and p2p file sharing. Will you do me a favor and check out this client called Bitzip at http://www.bitzip.com and tell everybody what you think? I don't know a damn thing about bit-torrents. I should really take the time to check it out.
Looks like a client and a search engine. I use Azureus best one I have found as far as a client. Then Torrentspy & The bay. Torrent Harvester which is a stand alone torrent engine is pretty good at finding hard to find stuff.
I tried it out, and probably the neatest feature I noticed was the geographical map you can access to pinpoint where your downloads are coming from. Not that it's a new idea, but the inclusion of a map was a good idea. I already filled up my HDD with shit since I went broadband, so I won't be able to give a full review until I install the new 300G HDD I bought today...
I use the client built into Opera web browser(which handles it when I click on torrent links in pages), or uTorrent if I download the torrent file. Remember to get a copy of PeerGuardian 2, its free and you can keep it updated using the built in update, its important as it keeps lots of nasty people from screwing with the torrent , ie, you get whats called 'bit torrent fakes' this is seeding wrong, or corrupt data instead of the true data, they do this on purpose to disrupt downloads. Some of you might also stop getting that annoying modem hang/disconnect and your torrent speeds should be a great deal more. Also get and install TCPOptimizer, this has been known to greatly increase torrent & modem speeds. As standard I can get torrents on average 40-70k/s,with PeerGuardian on its around 150-250 k/s, with tweaked TCP, i have maxed out around 400 k/s I can get standard web downloads to max out at 430 k/s Send me a PM if you need any links to, or help with these.
